Five important lessons 2016 taught all Corbyn supporters | Turning the Tide

Last Updated: January 2, 2017By

These are just a few bullet-points clipped from a longer article which I urge you to read:

With a new year stretching out before us I felt it was appropriate to look back on 2016 and the lessons it’s taught us.

Lesson number one – The vast majority of the PLP want Corbyn’s Labour to fail. In fact they would prefer to see the Tories rule in perpetuity rather than see Labour win under Corbyn.

Lesson number two – this lesson, which is entwined with lesson number one, is that we cannot trust the PLP plotters. Their contempt for us and the leadership has not gone away. The temporary lull in hostilities is just that, temporary.

Lesson number three – We must NEVER give up.

Lesson number four is the most important lesson of all – We chose the right leader. This past year has tested Corbyn in a way none of could possibly have imagined. Yet he has shown utter grit and dignity throughout.

Lesson number five – We are all in this together. No matter how hard it gets or how low we sometimes feel, there are hundreds of thousands of people feeling the same.

I for one will be doing everything in my power to fight for a Corbyn-led Labour victory to ensure the plotters’ damage isn’t permanent.

In a democracy, in a functioning democracy, what would be happening is that popular organisations, unions, political groupings, others would be developing their programs, putting them forth, insisting that their representatives implement those programs. Noam Chomsky

The first sentence of number 5 has forever been horrifically tainted for lots of people forever, but I do get what you mean!!

I entirely agree with your sentiments Mike. However it is one thing to say and I quote “I for one will be doing everything in my power to fight for a Corbyn-led Labour victory to ensure the plotters’ damage isn’t permanent” but how can this be achieved with these Tory selfish entirely self-interested types running the party?

I feel that Corbyn and his supporters in the party have to either remove those opposing Labour principles (if that could be done legally) or start a new party.

There can be no doubt that, in a country as small as the UK, continued acceptance those unfortunate asylum seekers to the extent that there is no longer enough financial, housing or space left cannot continue and more effort would be needed to help them by providing financial aid to those countries with sufficient space to accommodate them.

Rather than risk continuing with this selfish (I’m all right Jack) Tory party a coalition with the Greens and possibly the Liberals would be the lesser of two evils.

Couldn’t agree more Mike but I do feel that Jeremy has to be more ruthless with them and work towards getting them deselected. For a start he could rebuke their membership of the Labour Party having them deselected before the next election. He could also withdraw the whip from them in the Commons.
