What does it take to cancel a Trump state visit – a warning to Prince Charles from the White House?
President Trump is being a royal pain to Prince Charles’ climate-change agenda.
Members of Trump’s inner circle have warned British officials that it would be counterproductive for Charles to “lecture” Trump on green issues during the president’s June visit to Britain, and that the president will “erupt” if pushed, the Sunday Times of London reported.
Trump has called climate change “a hoax.” Hours after he took office, references to the issue were removed from the White House Web site. By contrast, Charles has called climate change “the wolf at the door.”

In the past only statesmen of significant achievement and character are invited on such visits to the British isles. (Mind you, as Ronald Regan’s visits show, this isn’t always the case.) Trump obviously doesn’t qualify. May’s submissive and supine attitude doesn’t augur well for future British and American relations; to be honest I find it embarrassing if not shaming.
That said we have to respect the office of President of America, whoever he/she happens to be, as the person America has chosen to lead them via their peculiar electoral system which, laughably, Trump himself has criticised as wrong because it sometimes leads to undemocratic outcomes.
It’s a difficult call when someone as dishonest and repulsive as Donald Trump ends up in the Oval Office of the White House, although, in my opinion, such an immediate invitation to a state visit is mistaken. Only time will tell and I can’t help but wonder what a conceited narcissist like Trump will make of the inevitably large protests that thousands of British people will make if/when the oaf comes to this country.
I wouldn’t want Donald Trump as a friend that’s for sure.
He won’t erupt, he is a narcissistic coward, who am sure knows much about etiquette. I really hope his visit can be banned!!!
Of course that all assumes that there is man made climate change in the first place.
Well, if Drumpf finds Prince Charles’ climate-change agenda so offensive he’s liable to “erupt” the answer’s in his tiny hands: don’t come. Simples.
