Nicola Sturgeon slammed the Tories’ smear campaign against her in an interview. The BBC edited her comments out | The Canary
The BBC has once again been accused of ‘manipulation’ in its reporting, after it emerged that an interview with Nicola Sturgeon was heavily edited before appearing on Reporting Scotland.
Sturgeon was giving an interview to BBC Reporting Scotland in the wake of attacks from critics over her visit to the US. She has received sustained attacks from Conservatives for ‘ignoring’ her day job. Some, like Conservative MSP Annie Wells, said that Sturgeon’s visit was “not up there” with other issues to the people of Scotland.
So the BBC gave Sturgeon the chance to respond in an interview with reporter James Cook… And some people were left wondering why Sturgeon didn’t use the opportunity to criticise the Tories.
But according to GA Ponsonby on the website IndyRef2, Sturgeon did call out the Tories. In an audio clip, she is heard saying:
It’s rather hypocritical. This week when I’m in the United States, the Prime Minister is in Saudi Arabia, the Chancellor of the Exchequer is in India and the Secretary of State for Scotland is in Burma. So, y’know, the idea that somehow for political leaders to take their country’s message overseas is wrong, it seems if you’re a Scottish Conservative [it] only applies when you’re the SNP…
And as Ponsonby pointed out, the BBC has done this before.

Lost faith in the BBC’s reporting standards a long time ago, they can and do edit their reports to give the impression their editor wants not to reflect the facts.
The BBC has been stuffed to the gunnels with Tories.
Agree the threat of this Government over the BBC has turned them into a totally soft touch when it comes to being Conservative biased. Not much point in watching this PR type of program anymore. Can I have my licence fee back please or is that just another covert tax.
No surprise there.
I should have elaborated on my previous comment. GA Ponsonby’s book, “London Calling: How the BBC stole the Referendum” is well-researched and shows the BBC’s attitude to Scotland and its role in 2014 (for anyone who is interested in the Scottish point of view).
