Auschwitz photo-op visit reveals Cameron at his cynical worst
Is this writer the only person who finds it more than a little sick that David Cameron visited Auschwitz on the International Day of Human Rights? What was he doing – taking notes in order to ensure that he can do a better job?
The parallels between what the Nazi regime did there, to anybody it considered subhuman, and what Cameron’s government has been doing to anybody it regards similarly are becoming so obvious that you would need to be a deaf-blind animal to miss them.
It is physically sickening to read about him lighting a candle at a memorial for holocaust victims and promising that proposals for a permanent British memorial to victims of the Nazis will be revealed next year, to coincide with the 70th anniversary of the liberation of the extermination camp, while his government continues to deny the fatal consequences of its own policies.
In Nazi Germany, people who were sick, disabled, or belonged to a foreign race were deprived of their human rights and shipped off to concentration camps like Auschwitz, if they weren’t “euthanized” at home under the Aktion T4 programme.
Here, people who are sick or disabled are subjected to a humiliating test intended to deprive them of the financial support they need to survive, and to implant the suggestion that it would be better all around if they simply took their own lives. Immigrants are depicted as a threat to the British way of life and the livelihoods of the indigenous population – but this means that people who were originally of a foreign race, but whose families have lived here for generations, and are British citizens themselves, are also likely to be targeted by the ignorant and easily-led.
It is due to the policies of Cameron’s government that the United Nations has launched an investigation into “
Cameron himself has promised that, if a Conservative government is returned to office next May, he will strip every British citizen of their human rights by repealing the Human Rights Act that confers on us the legal protection available to every other human being in Europe. Instead he will throw us the scraps contained in his miserable ‘Bill of Rights’, that is notable more for the rights it forbids than any it permits.
Pay particular attention to the fact that Cameron is proposing to legalise torture in the UK.
And there he is, using what was probably the greatest human tragedy in history as the backdrop for a cynical and hypocritical photo opportunity.
Words cannot describe the contempt that we should all feel – as a matter of duty as human beings – for such a vile abomination as Cameron, and anybody like him.
“Lower than vermin” is no longer sufficiently pejorative.

I thought exactly the same as you when I read about his visit and don’t think your words are strong enough Mike, it’s Cameron & his cohorts that need the final solution :(
We mustn’t become like them. I favour confiscating all their wealth and making them live like monks on some Hebridean (or Antarctic) island.
I almost echo your sentiments Mike, strip their wealth and access to wealth, land and titles.
Then they get allowed housing benefit to LHA level, then income to JSA level. Child benefits where appropriate.
And no more.
No banishment, they get to live in the communities they destroyed on a level of income they think we can live the high life on.
Please make it the Antarctic Mike. We don’t want them up here polluting our islands.
I’m currently thinking Mars.
Rockall?
They are not welcome here so pack it in Mike – if you despise Scotland and the SNP so much, then don’t remark on them at all then!
I was just looking for somewhere in the United Kingdom or its dependencies where they could be safely interred with the least disturbance to anyone else. The majority of people in this country – that’s the United Kingdom, by the way – don’t want them but we can’t send them away because they’re our problem. Oh, and remember: Scotland is a part of the United Kingdom.
And for clarity: I do not despise Scotland at all. I have the greatest respect for that land, its people (on the whole) and their achievements. As for the SNP, or rather Scottish nationalists in general: That’s a discussion for another comment column.
Coming from the Western Isles, as I do, and having visited the Antarctic and some of its islands, I would not wish these slime-ball a**eholes anywhere near either. Not sure where they should go, but as far away from any living creature, human or otherwise, as is possible!
There’s a piloted trip to Mars planned.
I hope you meant INTERNED and not INTERRED Mike. When I saw it on the news I felt sick in the pit of my stomach that this man should use a visit here for self promotion.
I just meant they should be left somewhere they can do no harm. The use of a word that means burying or entombing them was a Freudian typo.
I think everyone should take notice of this and hope to christ it doesn’t happen here we shouldn’t forget what happened in world war 2
It IS happening here, but with greater cost efficiency and secrecy.
The Tories are using our own homes as death chambers.
Yes I had posted yesterday on dwpexamination.org about it
cams giving his master a look over to see if he can improve on
his scheme of abuse I expect he will more abusive programs
to help the sick disabled and the mentaly ill with the unemployed
work programme s to help finish you off jeff3
We need the Tories removed from power ASAP.
Cameron is planning for if he wins the general election.
How about a memorial for all the victims of the Welfare Cuts he and his ilk have caused? The man has no principles, but then again, I do not know of a Tory who does.
I for one, was pretty much sickened when I saw this article yesterday. For a man whose party is in the process of enacting the exact same scenario and using the exact same rhetoric as those responsible for the extermination camps the hypocrisy is astounding.
The Nazis used the unemployed on forced “work programmes” which included of course the famous Autobahns. The sick and disabled and in some cases elderly were terminated after being vilified as the cause of Germany’s financial woes and lack of moral fibre.
These facts are rarely published, nor are the facts of the great regard in which European and American politicians and businessmen held for the principles of Eugenics during the 20’s and 30’s. It could be stated that rather than not knowing about the Nazi atrocities Allied leaders (especially prewar) turned a blind eye to this “racial cleansing” in order to see the outcome.
It is also a fact that the US carried on the forced sterilisation of “unfit” individuals until well into the 1970’s one of the basic concepts of Eugenics.
If history teaches us one thing it’s that our leaders pick and choose which parts of it to remember.
I’m sickened more by the people of the UK – their apathy, their disinterest and their stupidity in not going to vote in the 2010 election and then letting them walk all over us. We have gotten what we deserved as we just sat and let them do whatever they wanted. We in the UK could have stopped all of this happening but the majority of us were too bloody interested in television soaps, the x-factor, strictly etc as well as caring for no-one but ourselves.
If the tories get back in next year, either with or without Ukip, then we do deserve what we get – people need to get off their erses and vote and not waste their right!
I have forwarded this on to every possible site available at the bottom of your page. Thank you so much Mike.
IDS (RTU) made a similar visit a couple of years ago , https://www.google.co.uk/url?sa=t&rct=j&q=&esrc=s&source=web&cd=1&cad=rja&uact=8&ved=0CCEQFjAA&url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.conservativehome.com%2Fplatform%2F2009%2F05%2Fiain-duncan-smith-mp-reflections-on-a-visit-to-auschwitz-amid-political-crises-back-home.html&ei=k2KJVNq2OuPV7QaBtoCYBw&usg=AFQjCNF1kWFxoTF8ue67EfXEo1R4cQ2udQ It seems it is the rite of passage for tory MPs.
So I’m right in my first paragraph? They go there to see how it was done and then try to do it more effectively?
They go there to see how NOT to do it, they see how Grandaddy and his chums left the evidence all over Poland and eastern Europe. The evidence that eventually led to their trials and sentencing.
Make no mistake, every regime in history that turned on its citizens, that espoused death for the ones unlike themselves – they all thought they could carry out their pogroms with impunity, with the self-conviction of their actions being perfectly legitimate
The leaders and apparatchiks almost all ended up at the end of a rope or a bullet.
Cameron Osborne RTU McVey Hunt Gove think themselves untouchable now, but history shows us otherwise and I will live for that day.
Yes Mike I think you are right in you statement there have been lots of parliamentary trips there By Tory MPs so it may be a rite of passage.
I would expect nothing less from a piece of filth that has, no honour, no morals, no empathy, no conscience, a corrupt, treasonous, lying, thieving, fascist. Who presides over a government he knows, whose policies are responsible, for the almost annihilation of thousands of sick and or disabled British people. For dragging hundreds of thousands of British people into penury, slavery, homelessness, suicide. A so called man, who is an insult to the male gender, who would use his own disabled son as nothing more than a photo opportunity, ( look at the photo, he is not staring lovingly into his sons eyes, but straight at the camera ) who has used his now deceased son as an excuse to prove or score a political point. He is the Black Death and a danger to us all.
Leave a reply! Vote this scum out! The spirits of these poor people in their life of the “Nazis had no vote. we have.
Any link re legalising torture in the UK?
Yes – the ‘Tory Bill of Rights in a nutshell’ link in the article. The Liberty infographic has that piece of information in the item at its bottom left corner.
good article and I generally agree, but using the term ‘deaf-blind’ in a pejorative sense in an article that is about disabled peoples’ rights is unacceptable and undermines your views.
You misread.
I was merely stating that the parallels between the current regime and the historical one are so obvious that, in my opinion, one would have to be not only deaf and blind but also a member of a completely different species not to recognise them. Any derogatory association is your own.
I am feeling more contempt than ever for him and many who approve of or facilitate his work. I am Dutch, not British, and my ex wife is a Dutch Jew. Most of her family were murdered at Auschwitz, on 4 Oct 1942. Dutch transport workers helped bring them there. This raises the question of how otherwise good people can work for DWP or for Atos or Maximus. To say that they need a job does not satisfy me at all.
I don’t at all approve of the conservatives or their way of running the country, but demonising them to this extent with this sort of nonsensical equivalence and propaganda is no less ludicrous than the way they do things themselves. Cameron is not Hitler, don’t be ridiculous.
Nobody here said he is.
As for the rest of your argument… where is it?
The link from David Wilson about an article written by IDS on his visit to Auschwitz in 2009 is fascinating reading. IDS mourns the horrific deaths of Auschwitz victims, but it should be remembered that his Welfare Reforms set out (among other things) to “cleanse” one million people from Incapacity Benefit.
And remember his Easterhouse “Epiphany” in 2002 when he tearfully vowed to set the poor free (by making work pay) – very similar to Arbeit Macht Frei!
Also note, at Auschwitz some inmates were known as the Arbeitsscheu or workshy (a detail not mentioned by IDS in his little article). The Arbeitsscheu were signified by a black triangle on their striped uniforms, but some Arbeitsscheu had a bar underneath that black triangle signifying they were “returners” who were doing yet another sentence after previously being sent there – clearly proof that work does not make you free!
Mandatory Work Activity or Community Work Placements in this country today are no better at releasing the poor from their plight!
I actually do feel sick! He is the most disgusting excuse for a human being and is not fit to be where so many people fell victim to a regime that his is echoing.I am beyond disgusted!
Cant find the words to describe this individual, the contempt I feel is unfathomable, I pray for his demise sorry but that is how strong my feelings have become.
He isn’t a very good actor, I saw no concern in his face. That’s what I said when I saw him, making a show in that place just so he can get a few extra votes. They should have sent Clegg at least he is more genuine.
TBF – I think it’s important not to overstate just how far to the right Cameron and co are – I think they would be genuinely horrified to be called Nazis – but the fact remains they are laying the groundwork and they are doing it cynically and for their own ends. The Right of the Tory Party are much closer to fascism – and UKIP closer still, to the point that it is possible to argue that they are indeed a proto-fascist party – not much different to Hitler’s National Socialists when they first got elected. From there it is step by step to the horror of the gas chambers. It is ONLY the intervention of the people that can stop it.
I’m reminded of Baron Max’s words in CABARET :
“The Nazis are just a gang of stupid
hooligans, but they do serve a purpose.
Let them get rid of the Communists.
Later we’ll be able to control them.”
How wrong he was!
Cameron may not be a Nazi (I’ve never heard of him saying or doing anything anti-Semitic) but he is certainly a fascist. I found Blair highly annoying at times, but his laws didn’t threaten to cut off my entire money supply, destroy the NHS or greatly damage the Internet. I get the feeling that Cameron actively wants me to be homeless. I’m ok for now, but another five years of the Tories in power and I’ll end up with just my savings to live on and pay bills. I’m sorry his son died, noone deserves their child dying, but he does not need to take it out on everyone who is disabled. I didn’t kill his son, and I didn’t make the banks crash either. I don’t expect much from government, but I do expect it not to go out of it’s way to try to ruin my life.
In some photos of Cameron he has a strong likeness to Herr Hitler.Perhaps he has been reincarnated?
And Smith, looking like the minister for work,if I remember a post by you Mike.My Mother used to say that history often repeated itself.
https://uk.news.yahoo.com/mps-warn-kidney-dialysis-plan-122504080.html#t004s85
Parliament votes in feb to end dialysis for kidney patients
That should read, “Kidney disease charities were “stunned” to have been told this week dialysis will no longer be a prescribed service on the English NHS from next year, MPs have heard.”
But if it was a case of “crossed wires” then why didn’t William Hague simply say so, explain why, and set minds at rest?
He didn’t, he obfuscated.
I think, and this is my personal opinion, that the condems are becoming drunk on power. I do believe the Gagging Law is now in effect; is that why they think they can get away with such proposals? Nobody’s going to know about them?
If only the BBC would do it’s job!
There would be uproar at even the mildest suggestion of depriving dialysis patients of treatment. Because, and I firmly believe this, most people are fair-minded IF given the facts.
But we’re not given the facts, just fluff.
What an absolutely amazing piece of journalism. To even hint at likening David Cameron to the Nazi party is absolutely incredible and down-right disgusting. I am neither German nor a Tory but your crass bit of “journalism” makes a mockery of the millions who died at the hands of the Nazis.
While you may disagree with some of the Conservative party’s policies, you may wish to remember that much of the cutbacks are paying the price of a Labour Government that pretty much destroyed this country.
What utter and absolute nonsense.
Your lack of historical understanding is clear from the fact that you think Labour “pretty much destroyed” the UK. For your information, the UK became part of a global financial crisis due to the reckless activities of a clique of reckless bankers (whose political allegiances were not revealed; however the Tories have rewarded them very handsomely for the harm they have caused). The Labour government had to limit the damage in the best way possible and if you have a bank account now, then you have Gordon Brown to thank for it. In the aftermath, Labour instituted the most effective deficit reduction policies, knocking £38 billion off the deficit in a matter of months, before the Coalition slithered into office and spent the following four and a half years reducing the deficit by a further £20 billion (a liberal estimate) with their economically-illiterate ‘Starve the Beast’ cuts policy. The cuts are unnecessary; expansionary policies are the way forward.
Given that you are so hysterically inaccurate on recent events, and given that there are many other parallels between today’s United Kingdom and Nazi Germany, as highlighted here and elsewhere, it seems clear that your other opinions may be ignored.
I wonder if the above Tory realises just how much he has been indoctrinated by the ‘system’ he was trained as a child in. There is a lot of evidence out there which suggests that many of our politicians, especially those from the Right, are hand picked by the elite and ‘conditioned’ for their roles, (brain-washing children), which makes them very compliant and subservient to those at the top of the food chain, and willingly carry out their orders, without a thought for the effects on those they serve. In a strange obtuse way I feel quite sorry for him ie not having a mind of his own.
You are aware that the Conservative Party has long been known for it’s sympathy with the NAZI’s? That during WW2 only Churchill and Attlee’s stand at the famous meeting of the cabinet in 1940 saw off an attempt to surrender then throw in our lot with the 3rd Reich? Sorry, ‘come to an accommodation’. Had Halifax and his supporters defeated Churchill and his supporters in the Labour ranks, then we might all be wearing Brown out of season today. I would suggest a good read of ‘Fellow Travellers of the Right’ which delves deeply into the uncomfortable relationship between Senior Conservatives and the NAZI’s and their lack of repentance ever after the war. The Daily Mail, the Conservatives strongest supporter, bar the Telegraph and Express, was long enamoured by the Reich and still refers to Hitler as ‘the fuhrer’ to this day. As the last Conservative govt lurched ever further to the Right, we were treated to articles in the Express and Mail along the lines of, ‘Hitler, no-one remembers the great achievements’ and ‘Mussolini, was he really so bad?’. It sounds funny, but there was nothing funny about the articles. The New Right, which has taken over the Conservative Party since the late 1970’s, is Centralist, wants everything suborned to the govt, but at the same time run by a Private Sector loyal to the Party, believes Education should be run along, govt dictated, strictly nationalist lines, and wants Health provision available only to the ‘Middle’, Sound familiar? If the similarities between Fascism and the Tories is not becoming clear now, I would suggest some further reading. In particular around Mr Goves Education programme for senior schools, privatisation, and centralised funding. Where the govt comes closest to the NAZI’s cynical ‘cleansing policies’, is,as the author points out where T4 came in. Their brief was initially, the ‘humane’ removal of ‘worthless life’ but that brief soon widened to full scale liquidation of the mentally and physically handicapped. Their methods were simple at first, starvation, exposure to the worst conditions in order to produce fatal illness, then of course on to more ‘effective’ methods. Camerons govt has cynically ordered the removal of thousands of people with mental and other health issues to be ‘sanctioned’. This has left people, vulnerable already, to face a bleak immediate future, one many could not face and who took their own lives. Others have died through sheer neglect due their inability to cope without support. David Cameron, George Osbourne and Ian Ducan Smith are not ill educated men. They knew what would happen if they forced the needy and the handicapped off Benefits. This was a cynical act that inevitably meant that people would die. ‘Worthless life’? The similarity drawn is not ‘disgusting’ it’s chillingly, and accurately, given the evidence that’s being more and more widely opened up, describing a truly evil group of men(and Theresa May).
Say’s he not a Tory voter. Sounds very much like a right-wing numpty to me
I would suggest that this man should perhaps spend some time studying the history of the rise of the Nazis before the war as well as the outcome of that rise.
Apparently he doesn’t see any parallel between the scapegoating and attempts to eradicate the Jews, gays, anyone else who didn’t fit the profile of Aryan men, and women, with its gradual progression towards ‘the final solution’ and the coalition’s current scapegoating of the disabled and poor.
Eugenics was a key policy in Nazi thinking and if you look at our current government’s actions on ‘dealing’ with poverty, on ‘dealing’ with welfare, on ‘dealing’ with disability, and you don’t see parallels, then you are somewhat blinkered.
However, I suspect that his opinions and attitudes are probably too firmly entrenched for the blinkers to ever come off.
Your bias is truly incredible. Clearly your left-wing views have blinded you. Like I say, I am not a Conservative voter. Yes the world’s bankers have caused many of the problems but Tony Blair’s Labour government left a legacy that was embroiled in wasteful spending at ALL levels of local and central government, a spiralling welfare bill that DID not only encourage but reward those who are unwilling to get a job. Yes, welfare is important and one of the Labour party’s greatest legacies. But not when it is abused as it most certainly did become. Labour also has a lot to answer for over immigration. It actually does apologise now for its “open-door” immigration policy. And it is because of them there has been a rise in pro-right parties such as UKIP!
You reap what you sow Blair – a war criminal!!!
Dear readers,
Here is an example of what we have to defeat. This commenter has been so heavily brainwashed by Conservative spin that he actually believes anything they tell him. Against his claims about “a spiralling welfare bill” that rewarded those who are “unwilling” to get a job (the Nazis called them the Arbeitsscheu, and you have just confirmed the very argument you were trying to counter, Julian), let us set the arguments of all those who are rightly infuriated that Labour thrust the hated Employment and Support Allowance on us with its work capability assessment that has caused so much misery for so many people. Under the Conservative-led Coalition this has worsened, and the deaths of many thousands of people who committed no crime (unless claiming the benefits for which you have paid your taxes is a crime) will be one of the Coalition Government’s most shameful legacies.

Wasteful spending? You have been reading the Mail too much! Govt depts from 2006 – 2010 saw their budgets cutback year on year. Efficiency savings, including over 250,000 redundancies were made by the Labour govt. Each dept had to hand back part of their allocation year on year, with any ‘waste’ being part of that figure. By 2010 the majority of depts were already pared back to the bone, and others were so undermanned they could no longer meet targets without offering massive overtime. Which nullified the Unions request to work to rule due to the cuts. It’s funny how none of this is ever discussed by the Tory press/media…
You do know that when Labour came to power in 1997 they were faced with what one minister described as an ‘impossible situation’? The Conservative govts of the 1980’s had cut so deeply and caused so much neglect in Health and Education it was estimated that the govt had to either create zero unemployment (to generate more tax revenue) or simply increase taxation on everyone to the levels of the 70’s. Or hope to God the economy stayed buoyant and the banks didn’t do anything silly. Unfortunately the latter did, and of course as a result the economy didn’t.
If a govt is committed (by it’s manifesto) to redress the damage to Britain’s Health and Education it’s pretty much stuck. Which is what would happen if by some miracle Ed Milliband overcame the Corporate determination to keep him out. Deep cuts by a govt always become someone else’s problem, and if it goes pear shaped not the Conservatives. It never ceases to amaze me how Conservative govts cause disaster after disaster yet always somehow slip off the hook and leave Labour (or the Liberals in the past) to pick up the pieces. McMillan told us we’d never had it so good, then promptly led the country into it’s first recession since WW2. Heath’s dash for growth overheated the economy, saw the ‘economically impossible’ happen (inflation and unemployment rising together) and left the country close to ruin, and ‘the greatest PM since the war’, led us in to two recessions, created the worst unemployment since the war, saw Education standards plummet, Health bureaucracy spiral out of control (just as this govt has) while waiting lists soared, created massive debt due to Credit act ‘reforms’, lost people a fortune by it’s pushing of people off SERPS, and created the worst North South divide since the 1930’s.
Yet somehow it’s ‘all Labours fault’…
Parliament voted to go to war. David Cameron voted to go to war. You want to see a war criminal, Thatcher was a war criminal, she chucked over a £billion at Saddam and helped secure weapons deals that helped him slaughter thousands of women and children, including chemical weapons.
The terrible irony is that when allied soldiers went to war in Iraq, they’d have undoubtedly been fired upon by weapons put in the Iraqi soldiers hands by Thatcher and the Conservatives.
http://kurdistantribune.com/2013/how-thatcher-helped-saddam-commit-genocide/
She also engineered a war in the Falklands by deliberately ignoring intelligence about an invasion in the offing. She needed that war as industrial action in the public sector was on the increase and like all politicians of her ilk she was happy to boost the arms industry and create an external distraction abroad to divert attention from internal strife. It had the desired effect with the Sun et al and their jingoistic headlines of stirring up hatred of the foreigners and fomenting anger towards NHS workers who were taking strike action at the time. I know I was one of those NHS workers and remember it well. Then she went onto wage war against the Miners two years later thereby emasculating the Trade Union movement for 3 decades. Parliament did not vote to go to war against the Miners but was lied to about the Thatcher’s secret plans and history has vindicated Arthur Scargill’s claim her intention was to destroy the industry and the NUM.
You might also wish to consider the similarities between the Nazi’s Lebensborn programme and the UK’s system of forced adoption, an irrevocable and permanent severing of a child’s connections with its family which is lawful in only 3 (UK, Ireland & Croatia) out of the 28 countries in Europe.
Was this a policy of the current government? I’m not familiar with it.
Dont remember any Labour MP guilty of treason during WW2, because there were none. Cant say the same about the Conservatives can we. Google it!
The McMurdo Dry Valleys in Antartica haven’t seen rainfall in centuries winds up to 200 mph. Isolated from much of Antarctica. Perfect place for the Narcissistic Machiavellian Sociopath.
Tut Tut, not done your homework. Another ‘Facist/Nazi’ has visited this particular site and you make no mention of it. Nick Clegg went there in October, 2012 with a group of Kentish schoolchildren. The news report doesn’t mention if he sacrificed any kids during their time there. I include the reference “Students visit Auschwitz” at ‘Kent Online’ for your convenience. Pick the bones out of that. ( I wonder why this reference (Clegg visits Auschwitz) is only available under a refined search). I knew it was there because I noticed the story (from The Guardian) at the time of his trip – although to align the coalition with “gas oven politics” was – I must admit – beyond even my wildest musings. The following is only slightly off-topic but relevant I think: a Somali National fell under the wheels of the articulated lorry in which he was hiding as it drove along the M25 yesterday. His death is directly attributable to the utter contempt shown to asylum seekers by the European Union and the French government in particular. If they had any regard at all for such unfortunates they would spend some of the inordinate amounts of money which they annually purloin from EU members on the welfare of such people (food banks maybe). Such disregard is but a short step from fascism. That Labour should even contemplate remaining in such a heartless construct (ask the Greeks) is utterly, utterly contemptible.
I do not follow your argument about the EU’s responsibility for this poor Somali fellow’s death. Are you saying you know all the circumstances leading him to that point, and they show that the EU forced him into it? Why are you pointing at the EU when you say “the French government in particular” had something to do with it? Also, it is wrong to suggest that Labour should be exposed to contempt for wanting to remain in the EU; you can’t change a bad system from outside!
