Nick Clegg: the NHS needs “breaking up” – Pride’s Purge

I think breaking up the NHS is exactly what you do need to do to make it a more responsive service” – according to Pride’s Purge, this is what Nick Clegg had to say about the NHS – before he became Lib Dem leader and had to be more careful about expressing his real opinions.

Tom Pride writes: “I imagine the Lib Dems are extremely relieved that everyone seems to have forgotten about their leader’s very telling comments on the NHS in this interview.

“Especially just 6 months before the next election.

“Best not remind everyone by sharing it far and wide then.”

What a naughty stirrer, you are, Tom!

The article has provoked telling comments, such as this from Beastrabban\’s Weblog: “This is more proof about how extreme and nearly indistinguishable from the Tories the Lib Dems under Clegg really are.

“You can’t even call them ‘Tory-lite’, as under the Tories there were at least Wets, who strongly objected to Maggie’s plan to privatise the Health Service.

“And what is absolutely amazing is that, according to a poll in the ‘i’ newspaper in the week, nine per cent of the population still supports them. This is despite Clegg’s lies and massive U-turn on tuition fees, and the support for Tory policies such as the bedroom tax, the pay cuts and freezes, the secret courts, etc ad infinitum, ad nauseam, as Private Eye would say.”

Don’t do what I do, do what I say! They change their statements more often than the direction of the wind.

Not surprised really. I am sure 90% of the people that voted Lib Dem rather regret it.

What evidence does he have for that crazy idea? If he were honest, he could say, “because it would be easier to privatise in future”!

It would not help the patients to get better faster, I would suggest.

Why can’t we gather a fund to send him of to some far off island with the pygmies whereby he can spend the rest of his days playing on the beach collecting sea shells, he may be happier then rather wasting space in the tabloids here talking crap.

The only pygmies who would want him are intellectual pygmies in his own party, perhaps? If so, we’d have to send them all away somewhere with no indigenous population (can’t have them disturbing the locals).

I support that suggestion entirely, apologies did not consider the locals prior to expressing my view, would not wish him on them.
