JOBCENTRE Plus bosses pressurise their staff every day to stop the benefits of poor and vulnerable Scots and leave them penniless.
The drive to impose sanctions is such a huge part of the culture in Iain Duncan Smith’s DWP empire that workers suffer stress and anxiety if they don’t hand out enough. The most vulnerable people, including those who may have learning difficulties, are the easiest targets.
Workers who impose too few sanctions run the risk of bad job reviews and losing their bonuses.
Decent staff do all they can to protect vulnerable people. But ambitious workers who don’t care how they get ahead will hand out sanctions “for nothing” to keep the bosses happy.
This is the scandalous reality in Scotland’s Jobcentres – revealed by a whistleblower with personal experience of how the Tory Department for Work and Pensions operates.

I read that last night, last time I was at job centre years ago I was told that I was too fat to get a job, when the woman saw how it affected me she tried to sanction me several times, though this was before it became as prevalent as it is today, therefore it wasn’t as easy to sanction a person. I went as high as I could and complained to the manager and the sanction didn’t happen to me.
It is really sick the way people are being treated!!
Me wonders how much more are they going to allow culling the stock by any means yet on it goes weekly more news of those who perhaps have a heart but those who stand to defend us turn the cheek or so it seems whislt the abuse carrys on jeff3
Not just in Scotland though. It’s everywhere.
Benefits and claimants need should be assessed by an independent board – just like MPs salary…

I can’t understand why the unions do not get involved and call a national strike at all job centers. Surely this can,t continue the way it is something has to change.
Can anyone imagine an employer forcing a worker to do something so totally inhumane as part of their job.
It’s like an employee in a food processing plant being told to put poison in the product, would they follow orders.
How could anybody who is sanctioned even consider looking for a job even if they were capable, their first priority would be survival in any way they could even if it meant stealing food. Job hunting would be the last thing on one’s mind.
