How wonderful to see that the Conservatives and Liberal Democrats have continued to maintain the respect they had for each other after the end of the Coalition Government! (Shurely shome mishtake..! – Ed.)
A Tory was captured on camera as she daubed obscene graffiti on the shop front of a Lib Dem councillor’s business.
Karin Graham, 50, proudly posed for ‘selfies’ with Prime Minister David Cameron , ex-Tory leader William Hague and their MP Ann Marie Trevelyan.
The photos were taken as they campaigned for the Conservatives in Berwick, where Cllr Graham represents the party on the town council.
But the Mirror has obtained some shots which are unlikely to win votes – CCTV footage of her daubing ‘W***er’ and ‘C***sucker’ at the dead of night.
She was targeting a gift shop owned by Lib Dem Gavin Jones, in what has been described as a bitter and long-running Tory ‘dirty tricks’ campaign in the town.
Northumbria Police confirmed Cllr Graham was given a caution.
But Mr Jones has now asked the police’s standards department to look at the way the inquiry was handled.
Mr Jones, whose gift shop Jones&Jones was daubed with the graffiti, said: “I believe it is a matter worthy of further investigation and have now referred it to police standards, as I feel that the incident forms part of a wider campaign of harassment.
“Some of the remarks made on social media and at meetings have amounted to bullying in my view. They are trying to intimidate, and that is not acceptable in a modern democracy.”
