If Labour’s investigation into its Wallasey party IS still ongoing, it is time to close it – and apologise

Oh, so Labour is still trying to find a way to make its Wallasey members look bad, after nearly eight months and a report on the situation that was so poorly-researched that This Site hacked it to pieces shortly after it was leaked.

This is the report that is extensively quoted in the Mirror piece excerpted below. I notice that Mikey Smith has reproduced its claims without providing any balancing material. Is there a reason for that, Mikey?

But kudos to Mikey and the Mirror for at least reporting on it, after This Site challenged the mainstream press to do so.

Note also that Labour has admitted ending investigations into two individual members, so perhaps there has been some kind of miscommunication between the NEC, the North West regional office, Wirral Momentum and Wallasey CLP. Would anybody care to own up?

The facts are as mentioned in This Site’s previous piece on the leaked report – unless anybody from the NEC can prove otherwise (a hard ask, considering most of the report was hearsay and opinion).

It is time these mid-level party bureaucrats stopped dragging their feet, admitted they were wrong, and issued a full apology. Then we can all start discussing whether Angela Eagle and her supporters like Tessa Jowell, who drummed up this witch-hunt, have a future as Labour Party representatives of any kind at all.

A Labour North West spokesperson said: “Claims that investigations into incidents at Wallasey CLP have been dropped are untrue.

“Wallasey CLP remains suspended subject to review in March. We take all accusations of abusive behaviour seriously and investigate as appropriate.

“The NEC will consider allegations against individuals and the CLP remains suspended while these allegations are investigated. The Labour Party has concluded investigations into two individual members. Other investigations remain ongoing.”

Wouldn’t that say that NEC was complicit.

    Hi Mike

Not sure what “balancing opinion” I could have added that would have changed the facts at hand, but thanks for the shout-out.

Assume you got permission to use the picture, yeah?

Fair dealing, isn’t it? I’m quoting your article, criticising it and sending people to read it. You want them to know they’ve got the right one, don’t you?
If there’s any problem, I’ll take the image down.

Hey Mikey – I see it’s a heavy object now – what happened to the brick? Oh, the police said it didn’t exist didn’t they!
If you think your article is balanced, you are deluded and disrespect your readers.

Okay – same rules apply to mass media reporters as to any other commenters – you can say you don’t think his Mirror article is balanced, but please do not make personal attacks against him. “Play the ball, not the man,” (or woman) as the saying goes.
