Does anybody seriously believe Donald Trump is going to resign?

Tony Schwartz has offered us a nice bedtime story to help us sleep at night – but This Writer doesn’t think Donald Trump will leave the White House of his own free will.
Does anybody, really?

The co-author of Donald Trump’s memoir The Art of the Deal has predicted the US President is going to resign by autumn if not sooner.

Tony Schwartz, who claims to have ghostwritten the 1987 best-selling business book, argued Mr Trump is on the brink of stepping down and said he would be shocked if his presidency lasts until the end of the year.

Mr Schwartz, who has been a vocal critic of President Trump and spent 18 months interviewing and shadowing him in the 1980’s, suggested he would negotiate a deal for immunity in the Russia investigation in exchange for giving up his seat in the Oval Office.

The only way Trump will leave the White House before 2020 is if he is forced to move to accommodation of the type that has bars on the windows (which he certainly should be!)

We can but dream. Unfortunately the so called president is a narcissistic sociopath ho is incapable of acknowledging his mistakes and has to blame others for them. Or him to resign he has to understand that he’s screwed everything up and that it’s his fault. He is psychologically incapable of this. He truly believes his own lies. His warped versions of ‘the truth’ become his reality because he says so – which is why he keeps banging on about fake news.
He will have to be pushed.

I keep hoping for a nice simple answer like a massive stroke in the middle of the night. I don’t think Melania would be too urgent about calling for help. I don’t like fantaslsing about anybody in this way, but we are all in such danger with this man as the most powerful person in the world.

More to the point, does anyone seriously think Trump’s departure would make things that much better? If he goes, he’ll be replaced by Mike Pence, who is such a Christian-conservative dinosaur, the USA will become a bit like England under Oliver Cromwell.
