They can’t be serious: Is this REALLY the Tory plan for mental health?

Tory cabinet minister Liam Fox has accidentally revealed how Theresa May plans to replace the qualified doctors, nurses etc who have left or are planning to leave the NHS due to Tory cuts to NHS budgets.

Fox revealed the Tories are planning to replace paid NHS professionals with unpaid volunteers – and May’s government plans to dish out just 15 QUID EACH to train them.

What could possibly go wrong?

With all the sanctions going on, we will see the mentally ill, treating the mentally ill = more suicides, which I strongly think is the Plan!!!

This is indeed very reassuring that at least a million volunteers will be able to apply a Band-Aid if they come across a case of schizophrenia.

Pathetic idiots. Devoid of any common sense or understanding ….. they have to go much sooner than planned later

Your headline is simply not true. You do yourself and your readers a disservice by making these claims. What is being referred to a simply training volunteers to respond to the first signs of mental health problems, for example, in the workplace, in the same way as volunteers are trained to respond to physical problems and accidents. This government is trying to destroy and them privatise the NHS. Do not give them the ammuniiion to discredit your voice.

You have written that this is what the Tories want to do.
Therefore it is their plan for mental health.
What else are they planning – and how much money are they putting towards it?
(I’ll give you a clue – there’s no money at all for it.)

This government has already being doing this since 2010, for example I used to work as a voluntary Mentor, for petty offenders. My job was to listen to them and help them find a solution, if there is one to their actions. My appointment for the offender was written into their license conditions.

But then the parameters were changed in 2010 with the threat of less funding, all of a sudden I had to have a degree or working towards on to handle the offenders, who were now murderers leaving prison. So they used trainee social workers. several of who were attacked.

Needless to say I lost my voluntary job immediately and funding for the organisation was lowered significantly!!
