Former Welsh Labour minister found dead

Last Updated: November 7, 2017By

Carl Sargeant was communities and children’s secretary until last Friday (November 3).

Former Welsh Labour minister Carl Sargeant has been found dead at his home, days after he was suspended amid allegations about his personal conduct.

Mr Sargeant lost his ministerial job as cabinet secretary for communities and children last week, after women came forward with allegations about a “number of incidents”, as First Minister Carwyn Jones described it.

The Telegraph is saying Mr Sargeant has “taken his own life” – despite having called for an independent investigation “to allow me to clear my name”.

There may be more to this than meets the eye.

My mum taught Carl in high school, she was a Welsh teacher and she was quite shocked about this news. I’m more shocked about the treatment he received from the Welsh Labour party, he was dismissed and they didn’t reveal the full details to Carl, just hints of things. That’s disgraceful, it weighed heavily on his mind and he was in a severe mental state due to not knowing what was going on. Mark Tami MP said this should never have happened and we should make sure it doesn’t happen again. I agree!
