Theresa May’s pathetic response to Stormzy’s Brit demand shows her contempt for Grenfell and those who speak up about it

Back door woman: Theresa May hasn’t even bothered to watch Stormzy’s Brits performance, in which he criticised her and the Daily Mail.

If Theresa May really was “absolutely committed” to supporting the survivors of Grenfell, why hasn’t she found homes for them?

She promised to achieve that within three weeks, yet still the majority are in temporary accommodation. That alone exposes her as a liar.

She’s telling the world that she doesn’t care what is said about her; she doesn’t care how big the star is saying it. She hasn’t even bothered to watch Stormzy’s performance.

She’ll do as she pleases (or rather, as she is told by her Brexit and right-wing media bosses, being a miserable weakling).

Her government doesn’t have anything to do with ordinary people. Public opinion can be damned, as far as Theresa May is concerned.

And that, it seems, is her attitude to the victims and survivors of Grenfell: They can be damned too.

Downing Street has insisted Theresa May is ‘absolutely committed’ to supporting people affected by the Grenfell Tower tragedy after she was criticised by grime artist Stormzy at the Brit awards.

Mrs May’s spokesman said: ‘The prime minister has been very clear that Grenfell is an unimaginable tragedy that should never be allowed to happen again.

‘The public inquiry was set up by the prime minister to establish what went so tragically wrong and why people weren’t listened to for so many years.

‘She has met with the families and survivors on a number of occasions.’

‘Pledges’ of money and help are cheap. Not funding the fitting of sprinklers in at risk tower blocks is inexscusable and proves that whatever the rhetoric and repeated platitudes this Tory govt dont give a monkeys about ordinary working class people.

Like all Tories May is committed only to dishonest and meaningless words for the right-wing press to distribute. Personally, I don’t believe she has any intention of providing anything for the Grenfell survivors – she only visited the scene at the time of the tragedy because of public pressure.
