Rees-Mogg faces legal challenge for behaving like a comic strip character
How lowering for Jacob Rees-Mogg – often touted as a potential successor to Theresa May – to be called out for copying Walter the Softy from The Beano.
It’s come to our readers attention that @Jacob_Rees_Mogg has been masquerading as Beano character Walter Brown. A clear breach of our copyright. pic.twitter.com/voWQZ5VkPS

Still, we always knew he was only two-dimensional.
Do we really want a softy running any part of our government?
Do we really want a man modelled after a comic-book character holding the reins of power?
We hear that some senior officials in Westminster are calling it #waltergate

And what are we to think of the kind of people who do?
The Beano is pressing its case:
MP @Jacob_Rees_Mogg has yet to respond to our letter outlining his clear infringement of our intellectual property. The evidence is irrefutable! pic.twitter.com/jUVgczKAzP

Who knows where it will end?
The Beano comic has issued a cease-and-desist letter to MP Jacob Rees-Mogg claiming he has modelled himself on its character Walter the Softy.
The Scottish-based comic accused the Tory MP of “masquerading” as Walter Brown, a foe of Dennis the Menace.
It listed traits including his side parting, round glasses and “snootiness” as “distinctly copying” the character.
Mr Rees-Mogg said the move was “all harmless fun”, adding that “compared to me, Walter is Mr Muscle”.

The Beano characters have far more credibility than Rees-Moog.
