Never mind Kemi Badenoch’s ‘Islamophobia’ gaffe – it’s media double-standards that make this story shocking
Take a look at this clip from Sky‘s Ridge on Sunday programme:
Evolve Politics is right with its comment.
Ms Badenoch, who supported calls for an inquiry into allegations of anti-Semitism in the Labour Party, apparently cannot see the Islamophobia that is rampant in her own – from the 2016 London mayoral campaign of Zac Goldsmith to the habitual behaviour of Boris Johnson, and down to grassroots level during the 2018 local elections.
There are many documented cases.
But after hearing allegations from the Muslim Council of Britain about Islamophobia in her party, Ms Badenoch told Ms Ridge:
“I don’t think the Muslim Council of Britain is an organisation that would look very favourably on the Conservative Party anyway.
“So, I think there’s probably a political motive there.”
Hypocritical Tory MP Kemi Badenoch backed calls for Labour to launch an inquiry into antisemitism
But she dismisses calls for the Conservative Party to launch an inquiry into Islamophobia and racism engulfing the party, and says these claims are ‘politically motivated’ pic.twitter.com/hFxvU26C3c

Can you image the response if Labour had claimed allegations of anti-Semitism against members of that party were “politically-motivated”?
The row that would have been kicked up by the Tory-oriented mass media would have been gargantuan.
And entirely inappropriate, as it happens. The allegations of anti-Semitism were indeed politically-motivated; they were intended to discredit the leadership of Jeremy Corbyn. Whoever was behind them knew that an organisation the size of Labour was bound to have a few genuine anti-Semites, and readers of This Site know all-too-well that false claims have been made about people including myself, by misquoting discussions on Vox Political about issues related to Israel/Palestine, and to other false claims.
In the Conservative Party, we have a series of cases that have been proven – and absolutely no interest whatsoever from the media that were screaming for Labour scalps.
Kemi Badenoch’s ill-advised comments make the hypocrisy of the situation – her own and that of the right-wing media – clear.
We deserve better.
