‘I was misquoted’ bleats Tory bully Patel. Nobody believes her
Arrogant Tory bully Priti Patel is upset.
It seems she doesn’t like the fact that we all took her at her word when she said the UK should threaten Ireland with food shortages to “encourage” (read: blackmail) that country into dropping its demand for a border “backstop”; a guarantee that there will be no hard border between the Republic of Ireland and Northern Ireland.
Tough.
Nobody believes her now. Witness:
"It is clear my comments on‘ No Deal’ have been taken out of context .."-#PritiPatel
And what "context "could the threat of food shortages be taken from, pray tell?#Ireland https://t.co/Dsdmj1Clbv

I read your statement, and its context was very clear to me: use the threat of starving Irish citizens as leverage against the EU/UK backstop arrangements. Resign. https://t.co/kNHYWfqWRf

Perhaps you could explain what “context” would make your remarks about using food as a weapon against Ireland seem acceptable? There is no “context” that can excuse your shameful remarks. https://t.co/qhM6vkXuha

You were given sanctuary in this country when Ugandan Asians were kicked out by Idi Amin & now you think you can demand that we should starve our neighbours. In normal times this would never have been a consideration. Says a lot about you though.

You are either ignorant beyond belief, or cruel without measure. Either way, you have no place in public life.

Resign

I read the whole thing. In the context of your document you said starve them out. In the context of British history you raised the spectre of the Great Hunger displaying utter contempt for the idea of a United Kingdom

The above are just a few of the responses to Ms Patel’s unwise words.
You can read the whole thread here.
This one’s probably the best, though:
"It is clear my comments on‘ No Deal’ have been taken out of context by some. I'm really sorry to have offended the entire population of Ireland and more beside and I promise to choose my words much more carefully in future."
Fixed that for you.

She’ll never apologise.
But then, she’ll never hold public office again. Not after this.

useless beyond belief, only the tory party can keep something so useless, along with the other useless rubbish they have, perhaps they need re-branding, maybe the lying blue incompetent useless, spend something on 2nd hand junk they cannot use and scrap for 11k party what a joke we must be the laughing stock of the world
The thing that made me shudder the most is that Patel isn’t just of Ugandan extraction, she’s also of Indian extraction. With India’s horrendous history of famines – again sometimes engineered by British Imperial market forces – she should have some kind of personal knowledge of just what she is arguing for. And therefore she should be bitterly opposed to the very idea.
Truly, truly disturbing, the psychopathy dominant in the Tory Party of the modern era.
I wouldn’t be so sure that she’l “never hold office again”. She’s the type of psychopath that appeals to the Tory faithful. I’m sure they think she’d be excellent in the DWP where she could carry on the tradition of starving the poor by cutting benefits.
Absoloutly never been any reason for the so called backstop anyway, we use WTO which doesn’t require hard borders, although one side, the Eu, could decide to impose it because we have never said we want to, so the Eu wants it they build and man it all 300 miles and 269 crossing points.
