After the worst defeat in history, the Tories’ reputation is ruined. Can they salvage it?

I’d say the answer is no.
They are now clowns in the eyes of the general public. Look at this:
Consider this:
How history will remember Theresa May: she fought the worst election campaign in history and endured the biggest-ever government defeat.

And this:
Billions wasted. Millions deprived of rights. Government paralysed. Britain’s reputation in tatters. The country divided. And all because of an advisory plebiscite rife with illegality and Russian oligarchs and US billionaires.

She knows the game is up. Look at her face when the result of the “meaningful vote” on her Brexit deal – 202 in favour, 432 against – came in:
Some commentators are saying Theresa May is only hanging on to her job for one reason: She wants history to record that she honoured the result of the EU referendum and delivered Brexit. She wants her place in the history books.
Okay. Let’s write that entry for her now:
“Theresa May: Clown masquerading as a serious politician who forced the result of a flawed advisory plebiscite on the people of the UK, despite knowing that it had been subject to illegality by campaigning organisations and interference from foreign powers. She tried to use “Brexit” to her own personal advantage and, in doing so, inflicted immense hardship on her country for decades to come.”

I certainly hope they can’t salvage anything from this shambolic and chaotic self-inflicted mess. Just a pity they have dragged the whole nation into their nasty sordid squabble.
