Boris Johnson’s ‘man of the people’ act fails yet again in England rugby debacle
If Boris Johnson wins a general election after performances like this, then we’ll know Charles Walker was right when he said the vote would be ‘fixed’.
At 10.45am today (November 2), he tweeted his support for the England rugby squad, with an image of him watching the match while wearing an England shirt.
There were several things wrong with it.
Principal among these was the fact that England had already lost the match. South Africa had pulled so far ahead that it seemed (and proved) impossible to regain the lost ground.
Secondly, this weirdo who wants us to keep him on in the UK’s top job had pulled his England shirt over a business shirt. Either he had been told to put it on for the publicity pic or he can’t dress himself properly. You choose.

It follows a tweet yesterday evening (November 1) in which he was actually wearing a tie under the rugby shirt, so I think the latter assumption must be accurate and he can’t dress himself.
Pauline Lane had a different idea:
Johnson reminds me of Mr Benn.
He goes in a cupboard & comes out dressed in a England rugby shirt!
In yesterday's episode Johnson was dressed as a doctor.
What will it be tomorrow?
A bus driver?
A high court judge?
A paramedic?
He's lost the PM costume. 😂#VoteLabour2019 https://t.co/2G7D4ZhUbM— Pauline Lane (@Antonineone1) November 1, 2019
More cutting was the response by actor John Gordon Sinclair to Mr Johnson’s video message of support for the England team, as delivered by ITV News:
The other day he was dressed in a lab coat to look ‘medical’ whilst visiting a hospital. Today he’s wearing a rugby shirt to look like a staunch supporter of the England team. On Monday he’s visiting a sewage plant where he’ll be dressed like a @BorisJohnson https://t.co/M11IXFxpN5

Some were more direct in their comments:
Please fuck off. https://t.co/B4tYeR5Htx

And John Lewis Rosewarne suggested: “Time to dust off the pictures of The Charlatan Prime Mendacater Bullying Coward pushing over a small boy “playing” touch rugged. Or did I dream that one? Japan?”
Why not?
