Boris Johnson and his Tories are trying to divide us all again, so they can win the election with lies.

They are saying married couples will be worse-off because Labour would scrap that Married Tax Allowance. This is not true.

No married couple will be worse-off under Labour.

The facts are in the infographic (above) prepared by Steve Walker of the Skwawkbox blog.

For those who can’t read images easily, it states:

“Why is Labour scrapping the Married Couples’ Tax Allowance?

“We don’t believe it’s fair to discriminate between married and non-married couples, but every married couple will be better-off under Labour. This is a tax allowance that gives a maximum of just £250 a year.

“Our energy policy will give the average household £417 a year on energy bills

“If they’re on minimum wage, our policy will give them a £3,400 pay rise

“The average parent of a two-year-old not currently eligible for childcare support would save over £5,000 a year

“Parents will children aged 2-4, who are currently only eligible for 15 hours, would save over £2,500 a year.”

The Conservatives, in contrast, will make married couples worse-off – every year – by forcing increases in council tax because they plan to provide so little funding to local authorities that public services will suffer unless councils impose large tax rises.

So it is the Tories who will make married couples – and everyone else – worse-off. Don’t let them lie to you.
