These snow effigies of homeless people were created in 2018 to demonstrate that rough sleepers were freezing to death. That is happening because Conservatives in government are allowing it – indeed, encouraging it. [Image: @TrevorCoultMC on Twitter].

Nobody should be dying because of the cold in the fifth-richest country in the world.

But that is what has happened – yet again – under a Conservative government.

You may consider it tasteless to use the death of a homeless rough-sleeper against the government in an election period.

But the Tories have no excuse for it. This happens every year and there is no reason it should – other than that the Tory government has decided that it should.

Homelessness is a huge drain on public resources – as the authorities in Utah discovered, years ago.

They cost time and money to our medical and police services. Utah found that it was cheaper to house these people instead.

But the Tories insist on pushing them out, to die in the cold.

We are in the middle of a general election campaign.

We do have an opportunity to end these deaths.

But every vote for the Conservatives is a vote for someone to die – and everybody who does vote ‘Tory’ has blood on their hands.

Is that what you want?

The body of a homeless man was found tragically ‘frozen to death’ in Birmingham’s city centre on the coldest night of the year.

Police were called to a car park entrance in Station Road at 11.30pm Wednesday after a local drinking in the nearby boozer discovered the man.

It’s understood the body, found opposite the Victoria pub in John Bright Street, is that of a 30-year-old male of no fixed address.

He was pronounced dead at the scene.
