Johnson’s corrupt plan for the BBC – the propaganda arm of the Tory party
Some might say it’s a good thing BBC director-general Tony Hall has been persuaded to retire early.
Robert Peston says it means current chairman David Clementi will have a chance to oversee the installation of a new DG who is not under the influence of Boris Johnson and his svengali Dominic Cummings.
But Clementi’s term in the chair is nearly over, and it seems likely Johnson will use the government’s influence over the membership of the BBC board to ensure that whoever replaces him will fire anyone the prime minister doesn’t like – and replace them with a Tory puppet.
Of course we all know that news reporting on the BBC ended several years ago; we have been fed Tory-leaning propaganda for some time now.
The current move is to ensure people at the top of the BBC who won’t get in the way of Johnson’s plan to put an end to the UK’s public service broadcaster and deliver it to commercial operators (who will, of course, kowtow to the Tories).
.@peston misses elephant in the room, which is that the BBC – consciously or unconsciously – showed marked bias in favour of the Tories and against Labour and in particular against Jeremy Corbyn. And this was so significant that it undermined the democratic legitimacy of election https://t.co/u0Nr3WYe1S

When democracy goes, no one tells you.
It still says “democracy” on the tin and you still get to vote every few years.
BUT it isn’t democratic when those in power pump out PROPAGANDA
to the peopleJohnson seeking yet more power over BBC?
Has democracy *already* slipped away? https://t.co/u0Nr3WYe1S— Tom London (@TomLondon6) January 22, 2020
