Coronavirus: How many people have to die because the Tories won’t buy PPE, before YOU do something?
Look at the state of this:
NHS doctors and nurses will be asked to treat patients infected with coronavirus without full-length gowns – or re-use the ones they have, it has emerged tonight.
The Government has been under fire for weeks over the distribution of personal protective equipment (PPE), with some frontline staff warning that they have had to work in situations where they feel unsafe.
Public Health England guidelines currently state that full-length waterproof surgical gowns should by worn by medical workers to stop Covid-19 spreading into someone’s mouth or nose.
However, there has now been a U-turn advising staff to wear a flimsy plastic apron when gowns run out or not wear one at all
The government record on other coronavirus provision is also a nightmare. Here‘s The Guardian:
The latest daily total for tests, with two weeks to go before the end of the month, is just 14,982, less than 15% of the [100,000] target, with 12,081 carried out by NHS laboratories and 2,486 by the government’s commercial partners in drive-through centres.
There are 10,120 available ventilators, with around 1,000 acquired from the private health sector and the rest from imports and orders from small suppliers [the target was to have 18,000 available by now]. None of the ventilators designed by non-medical engineering companies such as Dyson have yet been approved for use.
It’s not quite suicide; it’s Russian roulette – with the lives of the people who save our lives.
It’s insanity.
It’s certainly insane for the government to allow it, let alone for it to be pursuing it as a policy – which is the only rational explanation for the lack of provision – unless endangering lives is Conservative government policy.
Why in the name of reason are we allowing it?
Well, it seems some of us are fighting the madness; there’s talk of a legal challenge by nurses. Of course, by the time any ruling happens, many more NHS staff and patients will be dead.
If you don’t think the situation is all that bad, perhaps you haven’t grasped the fact that the number of deaths, as a proportion of the population, is far worse in the UK than in any other country. Here’s the graph that proves it:
And before you take comfort from the line that “Limited testing and challenges in the attribution of the cause of death means that the number of confirmed deaths may not be an accurate count of the true number of deaths from Covid-19”, it means this is likely to be an underestimate.
And consider this: as This Site reported some time ago, the mainstream news media has finally caught up and is reporting that we are only in the first of several waves of coronavirus deaths:
Expert tells Parliamentary Committee: UK will probably have the highest coronavirus death rate in Europe, 40,000 deaths. UK govt too slow.
Need a public inquiry in govt handling, as soon as the crisis recedes, followed by a general election. https://t.co/UvIDAc9UhT— Prem Sikka (@premnsikka) April 17, 2020
From your point of view, you can demand a public inquiry into the government’s mishandling of the crisis, as suggested by the person who posted the above tweet:
It is now 100% clear that we need a public inquiry into the Govt’s mishandling of the coronavirus crisis.

Again, this will take a lot of time, in which the government will have ensured that you, or your relatives, or all of you, will die.
You may wish to get talking with your friends, colleagues and political allies about other strategies. Don’t take too long while you think about it. You simply don’t have the time.
Have YOU donated to my crowdfunding appeal, raising funds to fight false libel claims by TV celebrities who should know better? These court cases cost a lot of money so every penny will help ensure that wealth doesn’t beat justice.
