Tories caught cheating on Covid-19 tests YET AGAIN
Remember when Matt Hancock tried to tell us that simply mailing out a Covid-19 test to someone counted as it having been carried out?
Come to that, do you remember – as Bernadette Meaden does, below – when he claimed that a pair of gloves is not one piece of Personal Protective Equipment but two? What were doctors and nurses supposed to do – use them one at a time?
Now Hancock has introduced us to his latest piece of nonsense: claiming that a throat and nasal swab from the same patient count as two Covid-19 tests.

He’ll say anything to pretend that he’s hitting his targets.
This Writer actually watched him at the daily briefing on May 21, saying that more than 100,000 tests had been carried out – and I recall being willing actually to give him the benefit of the doubt, what with it being three whole weeks since that target was supposed to have been reached.
Now I find that he’s counting around one-fifth of these tests as two, so only around 95,000 people are likely to have been tested.
Does anybody else remember Boris Johnson saying at the start of April – nearly two whole months ago – that his government would be testing 100,000 people. every day, by the end of that month?
Yet here’s the Daily Telegraph, of all news outlets – the Torygraph – ripping into him and his government:
Tens of thousands of Covid-19 tests have been double-counted in the Government’s official tally, public health officials have admitted.
Diagnostic tests which involve taking saliva and nasal samples from the same patient are being counted as two tests, not one.
The Department of Health and Social Care and Public Health England each confirmed the double-counting.
This inflates the daily reported diagnostic test numbers by over 20 per cent, with that proportion being much higher earlier on in the crisis before home test kits were added to the daily totals.
Almost 350,000 more tests have been reported in Government data than people tested since the start of the pandemic.
If your government is lying about this, then it is not looking after you. Think about it.

I rarely watch all the briefings but I did see yesterday’s (21st May). What struck me was Matt Hancock agreeing with Beth Rigby that the tests need to be checked within 24 hours.
What a mockery that makes of the day they sent out 27,000 or so in the post to botch their figures!
