MPs keep hearing disabled people must fight to live ordinary lives. When will they listen?
This is an old, old story.
Successive Tory governments since 2010 have heard evidence of the hardship they have forced on people with disabilities – and done nothing but worsen it.
It has been said that one definition of insanity is repeating the same behaviour and expecting different results.
So I have to ask why anybody in Parliament possibly thought any good would come of this?
Other strategies are necessary now – and have been for years.
Let’s talk about them.
Disabled people are being forced to fight for their right to live ordinary lives because of the flawed and under-resourced social care system, MPs have been told by a disabled campaigner.
Anna Severwright told members of the Commons health and social care committee on Tuesday that she and other users of council-funded care and support were unable to live normal lives because of cuts to their support packages.
She said the system was characterised by fear, a lack of trust and unfairness.
She said: “People my age talk about it being a fight, fighting the system, and that constant sort of sense that we are having to fight for our rights and fight to have a life.”

2010 disabled mentally ill and those sick have bombarded MPs about the system of ackion t4 how it was culling them through benefits denial 2020 culling the stock through benefits denial carries on while they award themselves grand payrises isn’t life grand if one’s a MP
One wonders why the MPs have these useless committees given nothing positive ever results from their findings. But it does give the MPs some work to do other than undertaking private consultancy work!
Fascist tories have for 10 years demonised disabled women and men with the end result all these women and men have no ‘ordinary lives’ but instead are bombarded with threatening letters from Councils and the fascist tory government!
Fascist tories don’t want to give our public money to those disabled women and men because these individuals are supposedly worthless! Shame on the fascist tories but their stance won’t change because public money should only be going to the fascist tories’ bros who own multi-national private corporate companies!
We see once again that we are supposed to be and act the same as everyone else, yet the organisations and government bodies have not changed there methods towards those with disabilities or difficulties.
The D.W.P and Benefits Department don’t help because they are so much more interested in doing the TICK Box exercise.
We are one of the most vulnerable groups and since we are so lambasted by private and public organisations, as they are also so reluctant to take those of us with disabilities or difficulties.
We as a group are so marginalised and treated so different, because we have a disability. Then there is AUSTERITY were people have even less time for you.
Then there are some Government M.P.S past and present in the House of West Minister.
Who say they are there to help us as a group of people, but then lambast us for having a disability, we would like to not have a disability but we just cope.
I t would be nice if we are treated equally which is not the case even through the GREEN Paper and (Two Tick Symbol).
And now the lack of support as help to get continuity of Employment is nearly impossible, so with out these things we will never get continuity of employment and get of Benefits permanently.
When we see this change in attitude that will be the day when we can celebrate a positive change for the better for those with disabilities or difficulties.
