#LabourConference2021: Keir Starmer’s political suicide note?
There are many reasons to be hopeful after the first two days of the Labour conference.
Yes, you read that right: hopeful.
Okay, Keir Starmer and David Evans have gerrymandered votes so that Evans remains general secretary and only white men can get elected party leader.
But in the process they have demonstrated to the whole world that they are liars and that they are corrupt. And we’re not going to forget.
Grassroots Labour members across the UK know that David Evans is not their general secretary, because David Evans excluded and expelled members in his own interest, not that of the party.
They know that Keir Starmer is not their leader, because Keir Starmer betrayed them by stealing their voting rights.
But neither Starmer nor Evans will benefit because they forgot one important thing: Labour is a voluntary organisation.
The members they have betrayed won’t necessarily leave, and they don’t need to actively undermine the current leadership in a way that would allow Evans to give them the boot; they simply don’t need to help the current regime, either.
It is clear that, with Starmer positioning Labour significantly to the right of the Conservatives, left-wing activism has moved elsewhere – so left-wing activists will follow suit.
There are lots of interesting people playing much more interesting games than Starmer. And Labour can’t be the party of working people when it is being run by an upper-class, rich, knighted liar.
Without the activists who give Labour its credibility, the party won’t win any elections.
Starmer and his entitled cronies won’t stick around once they realise which way the wind is blowing. They won’t be able to; their backers won’t tolerate failure.
So his own choices at this year’s conference will probably lead to the end of Keir Starmer’s career. We’re watching him write his own political suicide note.
And then we’ll be able to take the party back.
It’s a long game that could have been avoided if certain people of the left had taken the required steps to excise the party of its right-wing entryists when they had the chance, but there’s no use regretting what is now history.
We can still influence politics in a big way – outside Labour. And the experience will probably make us all stronger.

Yes indeed, ‘it seems to have been forgotten that membership of the Labour Party is voluntary’!
I have thought all along that the suspension letters, etc., that I have seen have been couched in the language of HR admonishing a member of staff (very reminiscent of those I had seen before, working for a New Labour council…) and not to a person who has voluntarily spent hard earned cash in joining an organisation and spent unpaid time working very hard for it!
I thought the writing was on the wall the very day of Starmer’s election with his grovelling letter to the BoD, but hung on and hung on until the pay off to the so called ‘whistle blowers’ when I did not renew my membership.
I have been quite conflicted, however, with the ‘I should have stayed and fought’ argument. But things really just go from bad to worse and I think I made the right decision. It does not stop me being very angry though that as a member of ‘a democratic socialist party’ I – and many others – are the ones who feel they have to leave (or indeed have had no choice in the matter) when it should be Starmer and his ilk who should bugger off and start their own Torylite party.
Okay I can see your point sir but you are forgetting the huge elephant in the room unions the same unions that did dirty deals and could not really care less about their members despite all there fine words! I view deeds more than words and after yesterday’s stitch up of democracy by certain unions as nothing short as vile stabs in the back.
You can say don’t worry we can take Labour back but has either us older members got that much life remaining? I don’t see why we should continue to fight endlessly for small victories all the while the same lies deceptions and gaslighting will continue. To me the sensible course is to stop and restart the Socialist only Labour movement…This big top experiment has failed the right wing can’t be trusted. The PLP can never again be allowed to control the idologicay of the party everything must as should come from the members the CLP’s and everyone in them is equil and never again more so that others. Learn the darn lesions of the past and stop repeating them!!!
Stop playing by the right wings rules! We know the press will lie and attack accept that and treat them as hostile but alwase point out their lies. Never apease ever again! That sounds like a better more hopefully future than repeat the mistakes of the past and doom our next and current generations to Tory endless rule! Than more of the same for years and years to get back to where we was possibly maybe but still with all the same right wing baggage. How many will walk away never to return disillusioned or destroyed by the press or the right wing ilk your way?
Plus I don’t have 30-40 years left on this planet to see this maybe happen your way. I am not convinced this Labour party in this zombie state has that long it’s self remaining. Soon most left wing members will be removed or silenced to scared to do anything. One by one the last so called socialist MP’s will turn right wing or be removed then you will have nothing to rebuild with…. Remember they have total control they make the rules or ignore them, we have no power, no control. Jeremy Corbyn has demonstrated there is a movement of left wing passionate people that cares for the many and wants to work for the betterment of the UK it whould be a crying shame to squander that all IMHO…
