‘Grown-up government’? Not with ‘clown’ Boris Johnson in charge!
Oh yes he IS a complete clown: Boris Johnson seems to think “grown-up politics” is singing silly songs at his new communications director.
This Writer had to take a step back from UK politics for a while today.
Sure, there were houseworky things that needed to be done, and I was due a bit of ‘me’ time after the stories I published over the weekend and the responses to them.
But mostly I needed to take time out in the face of claims that a prime minister who got down on his knees to sing I Will Survive at his new communications director is now bringing us “grown-up government”.
Nobody in their right mind is going to buy that, are they?
Especially not after the press chief who received the impromptu serenade then told us Johnson was “not a complete clown”.
Sorry, but these concepts do not fit together.
And the fact that Johnson’s government is trying to convince us that they do… well, it means these people haven’t learned anything at all from the Partygate scandal.
They’re still partying it up, playing silly games, singing silly songs at each other, and having a jolly fun time while the rest of us face a huge cost-of-living crisis that they deliberately caused.
So, paradoxically, it seems that some lines from I Will Survive are, indeed, appropriate to the situation – but only if applied to Johnson himself.
They are:
Go on now, go, walk out the door
Just turn around now
‘Cause you’re not welcome anymore
I suggest we all sing them at him, whenever he appears in public, until he gets the message.
