Rishi on the ropes again – in only his second Prime Minister’s Questions

Last Updated: November 2, 2022By Tags: , , , , , , ,

Rishi Sunak’s second PMQs has shown that he really doesn’t have what it takes.

Challenged over the mess Suella Braverman is making of the Home Office, Sunak tried to defend her but ended up merely confirming what he had been asked – that she has carte blanche to cause any harm she likes.

And his insistence on harping back to falsehoods about former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn was tired when Boris Johnson was doing it.

Here’s the whole sorry half-hour. See for yourself.

It isn’t just This Site that can see Sunak is in trouble, either.

Here’s Sky News:

Already the scandals are mounting up. How long will this replacement prime minister last?

I’m not convinced Sunak was on the ropes. His performance is vastly superior to Truss – admittedly not a high bar but generally he appears to me to be a combative performer at the dispatch box and reading the mood music of his back benches, I’d say they seem happy. Starmer makes some good points – not difficult at present, but he remains wooden and lawyerly. For my money, Chris Bryant is far better.
