Labour shadow minister suspended after complaint
Shadow minister Bambos Charalambous has been suspended as a Labour MP after a complaint about his conduct.
It seems a formal complaint was made to Labour’s complaint process, and an investigation launched.
Charalambous has tweeted about it as follows:
I am aware that there is an allegation that requires investigation by the Labour Party.
It is right and proper that process is allowed to take place. I will cooperate fully and play my full part.
It is not appropriate to say anything further at this time.

He has been a shadow Foreign Office minister in Keir Starmer’s top team – but will not be part of the Labour party within Parliament while the investigation is ongoing, although he remains the MP for Enfield Southgate. He will sit as an independent.
The timing of the allegation will lead to speculation that he may be the person about whom Charlotte Nichols was considering using Parliamentary privilege to ‘out’ over inappropriate behaviour.
She said she would name a man in Parliament if her own party, which she said knew about the allegations, did not stop sitting on them rather than act on them.
Labour had then urged anyone with a complaint to come forward.
Somebody has – but until more is known, we must bear in mind that this could be a completely separate matter.
