Home Sec, take note: a Tory admitted 45000 new police officers were needed – in 2021
Here’s evidence that Tories knew at least 45000 new police officers are needed to fill the gaps their government had created – more than two years ago.
The clip highlighted by Peter Stefanovic, below, is of Kit Malthouse speaking on July 27, 2021 – and the 45000 number he gave was still an underestimate, it seems:

Suella Braverman’s blather about putting 20000 more police on the streets is indicative of another Tory tactic – let’s label it “less is more”:
They cut the numbers of a government-funded resource (in this case, the police) far below what is needed to provide an adequate service. Then they increase the numbers – but not by enough. And then they hit us with an outrageous lie that the boost is enormous.
