Keir Starmer’s latest betrayal of Labour voters is praise for MARGARET THATCHER!
If Keir Starmer is trying to confuse us into voting for him, he’s doing a very bad job.
In yesterday’s (December 3, 2023) Sunday Telegraph, he published an article claiming (as you can see below) that “Labour is once again the party of working people” (which is highly questionable since he took over) – that includes praise for the late Tory prime minister Margaret Thatcher, who absolutely hammered the workers and destroyed the UK’s industrial base.
Here’s what he had to say about his own article:Labour is once again the party of working people – their priorities, their concerns, their dreams.
If you believe that Britain needs change to get back to greatness, this changed Labour Party stands ready to deliver for you.https://t.co/oZP5MvBvvo

And here’s what his article said about Thatcher:

“Margaret Thatcher sought to drag Britain out of its stupor by setting loose our natural entrepreneurialism.” Let’s have a look at that…
The more I think about it the more Starmer's comments on Thatcher are insane.
When he says Thatcher "sought to drag Britain out of its stupor" he's referring to a period where Labour had formed 4 of the previous 5 governments.
Was the stupor Callaghan, Wilson – or both?
— Aaron Bastani (@AaronBastani) December 3, 2023
So Starmer has attacked his own illustrious forbears as Labour leader, saying that they had put the UK into a “stupor”. Charming! And what did Thatcher do?
Keir Starmer praises Margaret Thatcher.
Hiked interest rate to 17%; unemployment, NHS queues
Increased VAT from 8% to 15%; tax cuts for the rich.
Privatised energy, water.
Deregulated City – 2007/08 crash followed
Anti-worker laws
Destroyed social housinghttps://t.co/0VWzQPJJN3— Prem Sikka (@premnsikka) December 3, 2023
Thatchers attacks on the trade unions are well documented the Labour Party created and funded by Trade unions today praising her shows that it is no longer the party that has any regard for Trade unionists. #Thatcherism is anti trade unionism.

Starmer is wooing the corrupt, over-privileged moneyed class who have destroyed our economy, our environment, our democracy, our basic freedoms and rights. I won't be voting for more of the same and nor will many others. https://t.co/vhWhY7tGXw
— Revolution Breeze (@SueJonesSays) December 3, 2023
On his own account, some say Starmer is talking a good fight:
I don’t believe a word the man says but in terms of rhetoric, this is on the money.
The point is national renewal – from high streets to infrastructure and housing – can only happen with a fundamentally different kind of economic model to the last 40 years. https://t.co/wVpNrb8Jys
— Aaron Bastani (@AaronBastani) December 3, 2023
But he is approaching his stated target from the wrong angle:
No.
— Aaron Bastani (@AaronBastani) December 3, 2023
He does have supporters – but they are being selective with their facts, as This Writer was moved to point out:
Yes, PMs can make "radical lasting change". But you missed out an important phrase, I think, because vanishingly few of them make such change FOR THE BETTER.
Thatcher didn't – demonstrably.
Starmer won't because his politics doesn't have a strong foundation.
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) December 4, 2023
Some Labour MPs have moved to distance themselves from the sentiments in the article…
…now apparently the inspiration for your party!
— Damien Willey 🟢 🔴 (@KernowDamo) December 3, 2023
I can assure you my constituents do not in anyway share this view.
Thatcher brutalised the miners and their families. https://t.co/WqelJNpA8j— Ian Lavery MP (@IanLaveryMP) December 3, 2023
… with questionable degrees of success:
A lot of Labour MPs are announcing how they do not agree with Starmer declaring himself a Thatcherite and praising the blight on ordinary working class people that she was.
My question is what are you going to do about him then?
— Damien Willey 🟢 🔴 (@KernowDamo) December 3, 2023
People at ground-level have formed their own opinions – which are overwhelmingly negative. This leads to the further question: is it worthwhile, in any way, for traditional Labour supporters to support Starmer?
For all those unfortunates who lived through the Thatcher years, and the rest who are still suffering from her legacy, are you still really going to vote for the Starmer Party? https://t.co/tbBP4mYtpi

Labour members. He's doing this on your behalf.
How does that feel?
I had miners on both sides of my family. I could never condone this. She destroyed British heavy industry, car making, steel, BT, British Rail, Gas, housing… handing it over to the private sector.
Nightmare! https://t.co/fORqdxYUjk— David Williams (@MrDaveyWilliams) December 3, 2023
.@Keir_Starmer has abandoned his 10 pledges. He’s even deleted them from his own website. Now he’s abandoning the Red Wall.
The North East lost 100,000 manufacturing jobs under Margaret Thatcher, my Dad’s job at ICI included. This is adding insult to injury. No wonder @UKLabour… pic.twitter.com/0yQmqqbYoj— Mayor Jamie Driscoll (@MayorJD) December 3, 2023
Look…
Starmer is so careful with what he says/doesn’t say
So careful to not upset the Tory/pro-Brexit base
So forgive me for thinking he knew what he was doing when he brought up Thatcher, of all people, to a pro-Tory paper
But hey, we’ll just have to take it
We always do.
— Marina Purkiss (@MarinaPurkiss) December 3, 2023
I am not a member of the @UKLabour Party.
It is not my responsibility to see @Keir_Starmer’s Labour elected.
It IS @Keir_Starmer’s Labour’s responsibility to win me over and persuade me to vote for them.
I am voting for @TheGreenParty!
— James Foster (@JamesEFoster) December 3, 2023
We are left to conclude that Starmer has shot himself in the foot – again.
And that leaves us with one final question:
Q: Are the "I hate Keir Starmer" moment & the Islamic community's detachment from Labour big enough to prevent a Starmer victory?
