How can British ships keep peace in the Middle East if they can’t avoid hitting each other? [VIDEO]
Two Royal Navy warships proved they couldn’t keep the peace with each other, let alone anybody else, when they collided at a port in Bahrain.
HMS Bangor lived up to its name when it collided with the stern of HMS Chiddingfold as the other ship was reversing in the Persian Gulf near a Bahrainian port.

Nobody was injured but some damage was sustained to Bangor’s fibreglass hull, it seems. An investigation is under way, which is more than either ship can be, now.
The two ships are part of the UK’s long-standing presence in the Gulf and are specialist minesweeper vessels, there to help ensure the safe flow of trade.
It is not the first time HMS Chiddingfold has been involved in such an incident. In 2021, also off the coast of Bahrain, it struck HMS Penzance, a ship of the same class as HMS Bangor.
HMS Bangor is due to be decommissioned next year.
