Tory attack ad gets ‘community noted’ by ‘X’. Where’s the prosecution?
The Conservative Party has released what’s known as an “attack ad” about London Mayor Sadiq Khan – filled with false claims about him.
Take a look:
It should matter to people who call themselves Conservatives that this video is littered with lies.
It should matter to anyone who says they appreciate democracy when governments use to propaganda designed to demonise. https://t.co/QPhD17ti6J— John Amaechi OBE (@JohnAmaechi) March 26, 2024
Obviously the community note is correct; the Ultra-Low Emissions Zone was a Boris Johnson – Tory – idea that only happened to be enacted after Khan had become mayor. So it was the Tories themselves who “implemented a tax on driving”. As for whether it has forced people to stay inside or go underground (does this mean “use the Tube”?), I sincerely doubt that the former has happened.
This Writer is not convinced that ULEZ “enforcers” patrol the city’s streets in masks. It’s more likely to be done via CCTV.
Sadiq Khan did not “seize” power. He was handed it democratically, after winning the London Mayoral election.
Also: rising crime cannot be entirely blamed on Khan when the Tories have cut police numbers, support, and funding. The claim that London’s citizens stay inside and the streets are quiet is hilarious.
If knife crime has increased by 54 per cent since Khan took over, I wonder what the Metropolitan Police’s Tory government paymasters have been doing to make it that way?
The claim that decriminalising cannabis will send London’s drug death rate spiralling is laughable. Really – how many people have ever died from smoking weed?
The claim that whenever Labour is in charge crime goes up and justice goes down is absurd. It is Tory underfunding and depopulating of the police that has harmed crime figures.
That’s a lot of wrong for just 100 seconds.
I wonder what the Tories hoped to achieve.

The reason that conservatives often make an issue of crime is because they know that many people would not vote for them otherwise.
