Is the honeymoon over with amendments a-go-go to the King's Speech

‘Sun’ columnist Keir Starmer tries to use Hillsborough for votes – and gets a kicking

Labour leader Keir Starmer wants you to think his party will enact the so-called Hillsborough Law so you’ll vote for him. But he has written for The Sun, which lied brutally about the victims of the Hillsborough disaster. Is this just another pose by a notorious betrayer of promises?

Some of us think so:

The Hillsborough Law is, more correctly, the Public Authorities Accountability Bill. It would enforce a requirement of authorities and organisations who are responsible for public safety to tell the truth, preventing these groups from withholding or spreading false information. This is also known as a legally enforceable duty of candour.

Not only would public authorities and servants be required to tell the truth, but they would be required to proactively assist investigations, inquests and inquiries.

And it would ensure victims and families have equal representation and receive public funding for lawyers from the start of any proceedings, something the Hillsborough Families did not have.

Other measures include a code of ethics for public authorities and the creation of an independent public advocate to support bereaved families after disasters.

Starmer promising to enact such a law is par for the course, for a serial liar like him.

A law requiring public authorities – like a Labour government – to tell the truth at all times would be seriously detrimental to a politician who has broken almost every policy promise he has made since becoming Labour leader.

Smart followers of politics believe those he hasn’t broken are either in line to be – or were made to help corporate donors to him and his party.

That may explain the responses from “Jim Royle” above – and those below. We can’t believe someone who is willing to write for The Sun can be serious about a Hillsborough law. We think it’s another lie to fool voters into supporting his party of deceivers.

See for yourself:

The outrage is real.

Keir Starmer is a fake. He must not be allowed to become prime minister.
