Why is rich boy Rishi Sunak qualified to make decisions about poor people?
Considering his rapidly-rising wealth, why is rich boy Rishi Sunak qualified to make decisions about poor people?
The prime minister, who was already the wealthiest man in the UK when he was given the role by his fellow MPs, has increased his personal fortune by nearly a quarter in the last year alone.
According to the BBC,
The personal wealth of Rishi Sunak and his wife Akshata Murty rose by £122m last year, according to the Sunday Times Rich List.
The couple’s fortune was estimated at £651m in the latest list, up from £529m in 2023.
This was mainly due to Ms Murty’s shares in Infosys, the Indian IT giant co-founded by her father.
Sunak’s government keeps giving contracts to Infosys. That seems perfectly understandable now, doesn’t it?
Apparently a government spokesperson has said Sunak wants to be judged on his record.
What has he done to disability benefits? Who fell through the gaps in his Covid-19 safety net? How many more children are in poverty now than when he started? Yes – there’s a lot on which to judge.
