Will the election change anything

‘This is how I’m going to vote,’ says Gary. How about you?

Gary Stevenson, of Gary’s Economics, has released a video clip explaining which party he’s planning to support in the general election and why.

You can watch the clip below. If you know anything about Gary, you’ll know he campaigns hard to stop and reverse the current impoverishment of working- and middle-class people; the rise of inequality in favour of the rich.

He sees nothing, in either the Conservative or Labour offers to the UK, that will help achieve that end. In fact, he is adamant that voting for either party will only make matters worse.

He expects a Labour landslide victory – but warns that, just as Rishi Sunak became prime minister with the blessings of many who thought he was a safe leader who would do well and is leaving under a cloud of unpopularity after failing to live up to his promise, Keir Starmer will do the same: he’ll be as unpopular as Sunak within a year.

But Gary is happy that one party, at least, has taken up his ideas. If you want to know which party that is, you’ll have to wait until 11 minutes and 50 seconds into this clip:

One idea that interested This Writer is that of vote-swapping; Gary said he would happily swap his vote with someone in another constituency if it means the party he supports will have a better chance of winning there than in his own.

I’m planning to support the same party. I wonder if I should offer up my vote in a swap, too. Would anybody like to do that?
