Large rise in inflation due to higher energy bills

The UK has suffered a large rise in inflation due to higher energy bills that were imposed on households in October.

Inflation rose from 1.7 per cent to 2.3 per cent – that’s an increase of more than one-third (35.3 per cent). It was fuelled by an increase in gas and electricity bills, averaging £149 last month.

Charities are already raising concerns about whether people in less well-off homes will be able to keep warm over the winter – especially with temperatures already having fallen below freezing, with ice and snow blanketing the British Isles.

This Writer can sympathise. With revenue from Vox Political having plummeted due to posts being hidden by the social media platforms and their pernicious algorithms (we recently saw proof that Elon Musk rigs what people get to see on X (formerly Twitter) in order to disadvantage those whose politics he dislikes), I am facing the same choice as many – between heating and eating.

I’ll let you know how I get on. In the meantime, please use the form elsewhere on this page to subscribe to the Vox Political newsletter. It’s the best and only way to make sure you know about every new article, next to actually visiting the site every day.
