If you can judge people by their friends will Reform UK’s expansion slow now Andrea Jenkyns has joined?
The best service she did to the UK as a member of Parliament was at the very beginning, in 2015, when she ousted Ed Balls from his Parliamentary seat (some viewers of ITV’s Good Morning Britain may disagree).
She turned out to be a staunch supporter of Boris Johnson, indicating sympathy for the lunatic fringes of politics. She became Dame Andrea Jenkyns courtesy of Johnson’s resignation honours list.

Her political position – loony – was made clear to everybody in her reaction to Johnson’s removal as Tory leader and prime minister: “Sad to see him go, with findings of a kangaroo court,” she said of Johnson – the Partygate crook.
She had previously suggested that Johnson should not be compelled to provide information he had withheld from the Covid-19 inquiry because his wife Carrie was “heavily pregnant”. What did that have to do with anything?
She appears to be extremely gullible, having tweeted support for the lie that Hamas beheaded babies.
She couldn’t tell the difference between the European Convention on (and Court of) Human Rights and the European Union.
And she thought Liz Truss’s economic ideas were proved correct, and that it is better to keep destroying the environment with fossil fuels than to clean up our act.
Her sympathies with Reform UK became known before the general election, earlier this year, when Rishi Sunak held a meeting with her about a possible alliance with that party.
And in her own campaign, she distributed a campaign leaflet with an image of her and Nigel Farage, in which there was no mention of Sunak.
And now she has become the 100,000th member of Reform UK, according to Farage – and is set to run as that party’s candidate to be Lincolnshire mayor.
Given her record, detractors of the right-wing party must be delighted.
