Labour MP Richard Burgon’s Petition for a Wealth Tax | Beastrabban\’s Weblog
Labour MP Richard Burgon’s petition for a wealth tax has been highlighted by Beastrabban in his Weblog – and it’s worth highlighting here, too.
He writes: “This is a brilliant petition that I’ve definitely signed, especially after the disgusting farrago of Rachel Reeve’s neoliberal budget:”
Dear Friend
Like me, I’m sure you’re completely opposed to the devastating cuts proposed to disability support.
The Government should not be balancing the books on the backs of the poor and disabled. It should be making the wealthiest pay through a wealth tax.
We need to build the biggest movement possible against these cruel cuts to stop them becoming law.
That’s why I’ve launched a petition calling for a wealth tax, not cuts to disability support.
I will be presenting this in the House of Commons ahead of any votes on these cuts as one way of showing the strength of opposition there is to these cuts.
So I had to sign, didn’t I?
And I think you should, too.
Will you?
