Bookmark this article: Jeremy Corbyn is not our Messiah – he just heeded our call for change
I don’t have any pithy comment to add to this article – I simply think it is one that everybody interested in politics right now should read.
That is especially true of people like the Labour right-wingers mentioned in the recent Sunday Times article who claimed Jeremy Corbyn has been elevated to “Christ-like” status by his followers.
He hasn’t; here are just a few of the reasons; read, learn, keep it handy for the next time you hear anyone spouting the same blather.
An extract from the Sunday Times in which anti-Corbyn MPs allegedly refer to Corbyn supporters as “faith based followers”who are “off the page nuts” because we look upon Corbyn as a “Christ-like figure” is doing the rounds on social media, and I’d like to share my thoughts about it.
Firstly, any MP who made these remarks should have the courage of their convictions and put their name to them. Not to do so is weak and cowardly. Though I can understand why they wouldn’t want to, and I’m not talking about fear of reprisals from Corbyn’s backers.
These remarks say a lot more about the MPs who made them than they do about Corbyn’s supporters, and they should be ashamed of themselves for making them, or even thinking them.
Of course a journalist may have made it up, except we all know anti-Corbyn MPs hold us in contempt so I am going to give the journalist the benefit of the doubt and treat it as truth.
And staying on the subject of truths, any MP who dismisses our movement as a cult, with Corbyn as a Christ-like figure at its head, is either blind to some fundamental truths, in denial over their own failings or both. So let me have a stab at enlightening them.

“An article in the Sunday Times in which MPs allegedly refer to Progress supporters as “faith based followers”who are “off the page nuts” because they look upon Blair as a “Christ-like figure””
Corbyn supporters, not Progress. The MPs who were interviewed were more likely to be in Progress.
Mike you may notice I also changed Corbyn to Blair as they are purely accusing those that support democracy, of what they do themselves. They rabidly feel that they are our betters and purer than the driven snow. It’s almost like they feel they have a divine right to rule us
I believe david is twisting the wording slightly to show how feeble the anti-Corbyn rhetoric is becoming – the “moderates” are opposed to him because he’s not “like their messiah, Blair”, rather than any actual reasons to oppose his leadership!
Couldn’t agree more Mike! If the comments were made then they could only be believed if the person(s) who allegedly made them put their real name to them. In the meantime I discard them as rubbish and an insult to true Labour.
Treat the rubbish with the contempt it deserves
We already have Christ. Jeremy Corbyn is just an all-round decent bloke, who people feel will give us the kind of politics that we want and need, M.P.s who listen to and work for their constituents, not for themselves, politicians who serve, not rule and are humbles by that service. If these M.P.s really believe that, they should try living our lives and see whether, or not, they would vote for themselves. How insulting, patronising and removed from the lives of those they are supposed to represent. Clueless, the lot of them and for shame!
but they cant rid themselves of this man any way to demean him and his supporters will be used to tar him yet they brought forth this man nowing full well they had hoped nobody would support him hmm we all know were that lead but untill they rid themselves of these backstabbers them more //// to come
