Jeremy Hunt has committed contempt of Parliament and should be expelled
It won’t happen, of course. For contempt of Parliament to be proved, the MP facing the accusation must be shown to have misled other members deliberately – and Mr Hunt reckons it was a mistake.
So he’ll avoid the punishment, which is suspension or expulsion from the House of Commons.
But – if it really was a mistake – why isn’t he apologising?
The arrogance of this wretch defies belief.
Jeremy Hunt has admitted making false claims in the House of Commons.
Speaking on World Mental Health Day, he inflated the increase of mental health workers in the NHS by 43 times.
The Health Secretary has corrected the official record, and said it was an “error.”
But a spokesperson for the Department of Health said he has no intention of making an apology for misleading MPs.
He boasted there are 30,000 more people working in mental health today than when Labour left office.
But after Channel 4 News’ FactCheck questioned the claim, the Department of Health admitted the figure included all professionally qualified clinical NHS staff, not just mental health workers.
The correct figure, according to FactCheck, is an increase of just 692 people.

Tories are always giving us “errors” – I prefer to interpret them as barefaced lies and dishonesty and that is something Hunt is good at.
You know that the system is corrupt and he will get away with it and the media will close its eyes and say nothing
Mr Hunt can’t claim it was a mistake given that he made that false statement twice.
For someone who is actually responsible for the data surely his moronic brain could see such a huge alleged increase was not reflecting the dire straights of mental health in the UK and should have immediatelu challenged or minimal questioned the drivel that he was presented with. I had already dismissed this figure as another Tory lie at the time it was produced because the real facts were in the public domain that mental health was in failure and melt down…..and still has a huge way to recover. The sooner we are rid of that moranic Hunt the better.
