David Cameron in UK-China investment initiative – does anyone smell a rat?

David Cameron’s role is not his first job since stepping down as PM in 2016 [Image: Yves Herman/Reuters].

A couple of interesting comments about this turned up on Twitter.

Angela Rayner makes the correct connection – that Mr Cameron failed to achieve results for the UK when China wanted to flood the country with its cheap and shoddy steel:

But it’s Sarah Champion who puts it in the correct context, in the opinion of This Writer:

This rings true – and makes Mr Cameron deserving of our deepest suspicion.

He is serving China’s interests today – we know that.

The big question is, when did he start serving China’s interests?

David Cameron has taken a job leading a billion-dollar investment initiative agreed between the UK and China.

The former prime minister, who played a key role in efforts to boost trade links with Beijing while he was in Downing Street, will take charge of the £750m fund to improve roads, ports and rail networks between China and the countries it trades with.

Former PM David Cameron has landed a job with the UK-China Investment Initiative. This is a billion pound deal that was struck in 10 Downing Street when Cameron was still Prime Minister. This is a scheme aimed at improving transport links between China and the countries that it trades with. It has been commented on Twitter that hopefully this will be more successful than the former PMs attempt to stop the dumping of tonnes of cheap Chinese steel which threatened our steel industry!
