This is a deep concern of mine. I am alone, I’ll with severe chronic illnesses, and dependent upon the social workers, their contracted care companies, the local council provisions and responsibility for the quality of care and the appropriate management of all of the above. Government money unfailingly gets cut, and when they inject more into the system to appease those who demand their accountability, it goes directly to the top of private care companies for their own profits and salaries. I have been with three care companies contracted by the council. All were the same, formerly good companies who now treat carers with disrespect, bullying, harrassing, demanding and driving them to leave the work they do well and have dedicated themselves to. Managers earn more, owners earn more, and carers are unable to have any quality of life. Social workers seem to have qoutas and all be on a mission to make as many heartless cuts of carer visits as possible, leaving the most vulnerable sitting in chairs or lying in beds, unattended for hours and hours, carers left to do an hour’s work and personal care n 15 minutes. People are severely at risk of harm. They are deteriorating and have nobody monitoring their conditions. I am appalled at the levels of callousness and corruption I see in social care and management of these companies, so far from following CQC guidelines that it is a travesty. The good carers are quitting in record numbers and being replaced by anyone who walks in the door, poorly trained and uninterested in actually doing the job. The managers and social workers continue to exploit and cover for their own negligence. People talk. Good carers talk, but are afraid to be whistleblowers. I live in a very wealthy part of the country. It is a disgrace how vulnerable people are being treated.
