Johnson’s Britain: thugs think it’s okay to vandalise a food bank and force people to starve
Vital: Food banks provide a lifeline to thousands of families the Tories have put on the breadline. But Tory divisiveness is encouraging vandals to attack them.
This is where divide-and-conquer policies like those of Boris Johnson take us.
He has taken a few leaves out of Adolf Hitler’s book, and it shows.
By creating division between people, he both distracts them from the harm he is doing to them all and drums up support for at least some of that harm when he pretends to take a side.
In fact, he doesn’t care about any of the antagonists he has created; he just wants to profit from the strife he has created.
In the latest manifestation of this, we see that vandals have attacked a food bank – not for a first time, but for the fifth.
Organisers have been forced to throw away hundreds of pounds worth of stock that has been spoiled.
And they fear they may have to close the facility altogether.
The vandals will be happy. They have caused a lot of unnecessary harm with a small act of hate.
And hundreds of families will go hungry. Maybe some of them will lose hope and commit suicide (plenty do). Maybe they’ll just starve. Who will care?

It looks to me that the vandalism could be down to entitled youths out for kicks – Boris Boys. Probably come from Tory-supporting households whose kids regard themselves to be “Bullingdon Boys”. Chavs would take the food, not spoil it.
Chavs Pete? Some of our clients at the foodbank might be labelled as “Chavs” by some people, but what does it mean? The uneducated poor white Working Class? Whereas in my grandfather’s day they all wore wool suits, flat caps and clogs, they now wear tracksuits/hoodies, baseball caps and trainers. But it’s the same demograph.
In my area (North Cheshire) we generally use “chavs” to describe the ne’er-do-wells who congregate in gangs and intimidate local residents. In nearby Liverpool both “chavs” and “scallies” are used. For what’s it’s worth, I’m currently wearing a hoodie together with matching shorts (I don’t wear pants at all, even in winter). That’s all I wear, and I’m a retired electronics engineer. And yes, that’s me in my avatar in swim kit.
Blimey you’re braver than me, or you live in a warmer home! Well maybe the term has different meanings to different people in different regions but I took it as being a derogatory reference to the poor as in Owen Jones’ book.
A very worrying incident(s). I know that my local foodbank where visited by someone from the Council last year and warned about security risks, possible break-ins, looting, rioting, in relation to Brexit. But in truth there’s nothing much the foodbank can do. The doors of the storage unit are locked when closed but that won’t prevent a ram-raid.
These are not vandals out for kicks. This is a concerted attack to shut down foodbanks.

Starvation is people in or out of work, poorest pensioners, 1950s and 1960s men and women pensionless / denied pension credit, who are in amongst the most chronic sick / disabled older working class of any rich nation, and remembering Universal Credit has absorbed working tax credits, so the foodbanks are feeding those in work as much as out of work or retired or denied retirement with little chance of a new job.
No vandal is going out of their way to burglarise a building again and again, for no financial gain.
Security lighting and cameras are not expensive to get. Security lighting can be solar powered.
Do remember that Jeremy Corbyn’s Labour manifesto held the pledges to grant food as a Human right and end the need of foodbanks within 3 years of coming into power.
The Tory welfare state has only one focus, to leave people to starve. The Tory encouraged zero hour contracted also starve.
Starvation needs to be shown to be all people, and how much there is of it.
You make some very good points.
I don’t know Grey Swans, you raise some valid points and that scenario is certainly a possibility but then again there are many incidents of repeated mindless vandalism of all kinds of projects that are targeted by morons for the sake of it, playgroups, environmental projects, car sales forecourts, sports clubs, cricket pavilions burnt down etc. I think it could be the action of bored, drunken teenagers. I read of similar things in my local newspaper all the time, acts of wanton destruction for no rhyme or reason.
