POLL: Shamima Begum will return to UK to fight for citizenship, court says. Good decision?

Shamima Begum: do you think her UK citizenship should be returned to her?

The Court of Appeal has said former IS bride Shamima Begum may return to the UK to appeal for the return of her citizenship.

Judges said she had been denied a fair hearing because she could not make her case from a Syrian refugee camp.

Ms Begum has proved extremely divisive among some members of the UK community.

She was enticed abroad to join Islamic State, aged just 15, and married a Dutch IS fighter – with whom she had three children. They have all died.

After IS largely collapsed, she found herself in a refugee camp and appealed for the UK’s government to return her to this country, so she could rely on the National Health Service to care for her and her last child, before that child died.

But then-Home Secretary Sajid Javid instead stripped her of her UK citizenship, citing the now-20-year-old’s still-apparent enthusiasm for the bloodthirsty regime she fled the country to join.

Some said she had been groomed and did not know what she was doing; some said she knew exactly what she was about.

The Special Immigration Appeals Commission (SIAC), a semi-secret court that hears national security cases, ruled that Mr Javid was right and Ms Begum could appeal for citizenship to Bangladesh, to which she may have a claim to nationality through her mother.

The Court of Appeal has overruled that judgement – but the Home Office has said it will apply for permission to appeal.

Is this a good decision? Let’s be clear – Ms Begum is not being offered her citizenship back; she’s just getting a chance to plead for it, showing that she has learned her lesson.

But has she? Or would we be allowing a viper into our collective bosom?

Let’s have a poll:

Shamima was groomed when she was still a child and influenced really she ought to be allowed to keep her British citizenship…after all it was not all her fault she was under the influence of ruthless IS..She may well now be an adult but at the time she was still a child…We created this mess so therefore should deal with it..If you make this girl stateless what does this say about the way the UK deal with humanitarian cases…!

It seems a bit strange that two 10yr olds can be found legally responsible for murder Yet a 15yr old can get away with being a Traitor to her country!!!

No. Should NEVER be allowed to set foot in the UK – ever again.

”But she was too young to know what she was doing”

I see. What about that Greta Thunberg, eh?

”Oh she’s fantastic, that young lady’s an inspiration to us all”

Well guess what? begum was the same age as thunberg was when they set off on their respective courses…

Whataboutism! False equivalence! Of course, all the decisions that you made when you were that age, you still agree with, and you wouldn’t mind being judged for right now? Perhaps US foreign policy is to blame since we now know that they created, trained and financed Al Queda and all the other so called ‘moderate rebels’ now infesting Syria – giving the lie to the US professed ‘protection of innocent citizens’ as their alibi for stealing Syrian oil and invading the Golan Heights. So when should we expect the US to be in the dock for causing the mess in the first place?

Personally she should have been let back into the UK years ago. Arrested and taken to a safe house by the spooks and been debriefed.

If she was a child that was groomed, as some are saying, then we need to know who has been doing the grooming. If she is willing to turn supergrass and her info is useful, then maybe look on her more favourably. If she refuses, then she will only become a poster girl for Islamic terrorism and a danger to the country. I wouldn’t know what to do with her in that case. It’s a difficult situation.

How about a “Don’t know yet” option?

WE could vote after we have seen and heard about the Court case. Maybe seen her being interviewed. Heard her lawyers arguments.
As far as I am concerned, if she regrets her original decision (after a catastrophic defeat and the loss of four babies, how could she not at least have a few doubts?) then why not return her citizenship?
If she clings to her horrific ISIS affiliations, then we cannot help her.

My only other point would be the the thought that all these countries that won’t have their ISIS recruit citizens back home are just dumping the problem on the Syrian government or the Syrian Kurds who have too many problems already.

Shamima Begum has been demonised by the nasty fascist tories because she is a young woman. Do not forget she was just 15 when enticed by ISIS male terrorists to go to Syria.

What about the numerous male British terrorist fighters who were allowed to come back to the UK and weren’t even named in the UK malestream media? Why weren’t these men arrested and deported??? After all fascist tories believe they have the right of force to deport anyone whose ethnicity is not British!

The fascist tories believe they are above the law and do not forget Shamima Begum has not been convicted of any crime! Removing her British citizenship is a shameful act by the fascist tories because she is a British citizen!

“… What about the numerous male British terrorist fighters who were allowed to come back to the UK …” Yes, and how quickly we forget the active Libyan terrorists who our spooks gave visas to and encouraged them to fight it’s leaders and devastate that country, now a failed state with human slave markets, and how they then were allowed to go on to bomb kids at the Manchester Arena! And then the report disclosing all this that then May tried to cover up! And they want to nail a grieving mother, a victim of these lies and deceptions, to distract and appease these baying fools so they won’t find the real culprits of global war and state-sanctioned murder?

It doesn’t matter how you feel about her, she is a British citizen and should be taken to court as a British citizen. She was born and raised in the UK. You can’t just revoke someones citizenship because you don’t like what they did.
