Covid lockdown seems to have been perfect opportunity for Tory cruelty to care home residents
It seems people living in care homes were doomed, no matter what happened – the instant the Tories announced the Covid-19 lockdown.
We already know that the government condemned more than 20,000 people to death by sending people with the virus out of hospital and back to their homes, which did not have the facilities to treat them safely.
Now MPs have been told that the lockdown has had a brutal effect, even on healthy residents.
The isolation imposed on them by the Tories has had a devastating effect on their mental health.
They’ve lost weight, the ability to speak, and memory – meaning they aren’t able to recognise relatives after months in isolation.
They are losing the will to live, according to evidence given to the All-Party Parliamentary Group on the Coronavirus.
It seems the Tories imposed lockdown conditions that turned care homes into the equivalent of prisons, with each inmate – sorry, resident – treated as though they had been thrown into isolation cells.
No risk assessments were carried out to consider the effect this would have, as vital support networks including visits from relatives were cut off.
It seems Health Secretary Matt Hancock cried crocodile tears for the care home residents whose lives he has ruined.
He said new guidance had been published last month, allowing visits by relatives for the first time since the lockdown.
He said it was possible to “carefully and safely” allow visits to care homes, based on “local knowledge and circumstances” for each care home.
Relatives’ and residents’ representatives say these guidelines lack clarity and leadership.
The whole package seems emblematic of the Tory approach to the Covid-19 crisis: say one thing – do another.

The care homes could have used something like Facebook’s Portal in a public area, for the elderly to talk to their relatives on a regular basis.
Same could have been done by using the Nightingale hospitals as a halfway house between hospital and care homes, so as to treat the elderly for Covid19, by oxygen, and anti viral medicines, whatever their age, as abroad people over 60 and over, til 100 have survive with hospital treatment.
And have, health permitting, be able to talk to relatives by video link.
How can one write about it when it affects you so that my wife suffered not only not visiting her mother that she forgot her children corvid didn’t kill her but a fall and that let one daughter to sit with her vile the body give up it’s ghost has my mother also got to go into hospital but she was put into a corvid ward while she hadn’t had it left on trolley inward left to pass but sadly many have gone through whot our families have gone through the only good out of it was keeping our parents of the covid death register
Fascist tories you are doing excellent work – murdering thousands and thousands of women and men in care homes and those that survived the first pandemic are now dying because they are prisoners without any access to having their relatives visit them!
Also pregnant working women were deliberately targeted by the fascist tories because denying these women their rightful maternity benefits has saved the fascist tory private corporate bros huge sums of money!
We have a criminal fascist fake government wherein state instigated mass murder of thousands of women and men is fine; demonising refugee women, children and men is okay and enriching the fascist tory private male owned corporate companies is also okay!
PPE clothing is a joke because the fascist tories enriched their bros and themselves by awarding contracts to private companies which have no speciality whatsoever in medical clothing! Still never mind – lardy fascist dictator boris is doing excellent work – eliminating all the worthless women and men and claiming ‘he has a moral duty’ to force children back into schools so that the next pandemic can happen!
