Is #BorisJohnson really going to tell us he didn’t attend THIS #DowningStreetParty?
Boris Johnson: one wonders whether this image was taken during one of the many parties he hosted at Downing Street, with dozens of people mixing freely, while we were all forbidden from being with our friends and family members who were dying of Covid-19.
He can’t tell us he didn’t attend this – and he can’t tell us he thought it was a work event either.
Downing Street has admitted that up to 30 people gathered in the Cabinet Room at Number 10 to celebrate Boris Johnson’s birthday on June 19, 2020 – after ITV News reported it had discovered this latest breach of its own Covid-19 lockdown rules by the government.
The constant drip-feed of new revelations has now reached a point at which it has become ridiculous. Wouldn’t it be easier all around if Downing Street provided us with a timetable of all the times its staff broke lockdown rules – perhaps annotated with information on which members of the government attended and at which times?
It seems clear that details of all the events are known by Johnson and by the staff members at Downing Street who have been stonewalling for him since the first revelations were made, back in December last year.
The continued insistence on only admitting the facts after we’ve had to drag them into the light is an insult to our collective intelligence.
To remind you: at the time of this latest party to be revealed to us, gatherings of more than two people indoors were forbidden, so 30 people is 15 times as many as was permitted.
It seems, also, that family and friends of Johnson were hosted in Johnson’s flat that evening in a gathering that involved a barbecue in the Number 10 garden. A Number 10 spokesperson has said the claim about an indoor gathering is untrue – but admitted that family members were in the garden. If there were more than six of them, it was still against the rules!
Downing Street has also tried to justify the Cabinet Room party by saying it only lasted around 10 minutes.
That doesn’t matter!
It was forbidden!
And this was according to Johnson’s own rules that he read out to us on TV!
We need to get this lying piece of trash out of Downing Street at the earliest possible opportunity – along with all the officials and flunkies who seem happy to have attended his parties then, and to lie on his behalf now.
