Prime Ministers Questions November 23 2022
UK Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was grilled on Scottish Independence and the forthcoming recession – and as usual provided few answers.
I was live-tweeting during the session, and my comments look like this:
#KeirStarmer wants to know why the UK faces the lowest growth of any OECD nation over the next two years. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#RishiSunak claims that the UK has had high growth over the last few years. Is he really right? There is high employment too, he says. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#KeirStarmer points out that the UK is at the bottom of the OECD league table. He asks why the UK is set to be the first country into recession and the last out. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#RishiSunak is banging on about high growth again. He's been defeated over that straight away so he's on a hiding to nothing. The UK is going into recession and he's responsible. People's lives are in the balance and he's playing schoolboy politics. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
.@CommonsSpeaker reminds #RishiSunak he wanted to get through #PMQs quickly and would give short answers – and tells him to stick to it. #PoliticsLive
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#KeirStarmer compares the tax increase of £1,400 for a typical household with a super-wealthy non-dom whose income stays overseas. How much will they pay? #RishiSunak has a non-dom wife who fell foul of this fact, of course. #PMQs #PoliticsLive
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#RishiSunak reckons taxing non-doms would cost the UK money. #PoliticsLive #PMQs He also attacks the last Labour government for failing to tax non-doms.
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#KeirStarmer points out that if the current Tory government was as successful as the last Labour government, there would be billions of pounds more to spend on public services like the NHS. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#KeirStarmer points out that #RishiSunak pays Shell 90p for every £1 it spends drilling. Why is he subsidising fuel giants that are making massive profits? #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
Why do the Tories always clobber working people? asks #KeirStarmer. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#KeirStarmer says he cares for working people but won't stand up to the unions, says #RishiSunak. What nonsense. The unions ARE working people. Caring for working people is supporting the unions. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#IanBlackford raises democracy in the union, after the #SupremeCourt's ruling on #ScottishIndependence. Is the idea that the UK is a voluntary union of nations dead and buried? #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
#RishiSunak dodges the issue of Scottish democracy. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
What right does a man with no mandate (#RishiSunak) have to deny Scottish democracy? asks #IanBlackford. #PoliticsLive #PMQs
— Mike Sivier (@MidWalesMike) November 23, 2022
Again, #RishiSunak dodges the question. #PoliticsLive #PMQs

I love the way that Sunak states that x amount is being provided and he hopes, yes hopes, the money gets to the the needy.
As far as bus and train services, the government should be making laws to ensure that train and bus companies meet the agreed services. We have seen Southeaster cut down on services for no reason while expecting to get the subsidy.
