Labour is splitting over Keir Starmer’s unquestioning support for Israel
Keir Starmer has nobody to blame but himself for the latest controversy affecting the Labour Party.
For once, he can’t claim Jeremy Corbyn is responsible for the words that came out of his mouth about Israel’s unrelenting assault on the innocent people of Gaza (the Hamas terrorists Israel claims to be attacking are all underground, remember). These words (although the LBC clip below is more widely-known):
Starmer refuses to show sympathy with innocent civilians being bombed and facing privation in Gaza. Draw your own conclusions about what he’d be like as Prime Minister. pic.twitter.com/8HZ7XkD7Lw

His words sparked a flurry of resignations among Muslim Labour Party members and representatives, and a collective turning-away from the party among Muslim voters.
Starmer then tried to claim that he had misunderstood the interview question (twice?) and gave a further interview, apparently reversing what he had said before. This is nothing new to those of us who have followed his career as leader of the Labour Party:

In an attempt to soothe the Muslim community, Starmer visited the South Wales Islamic Centre in Cardiff. But his subsequent post on ‘X’ made matters worse:
I was grateful to hear from the Muslim community of the South Wales Islamic Centre.
I repeated our calls for all hostages to be released, more humanitarian aid to enter Gaza, for the water and power to be switched back on, and a renewed focus on the two state solution. pic.twitter.com/CkyPDDnXtp

Jo Coburn explained the situation on the BBC’s Politics Live:
Here are two statements from the Islamic Centre, supporting what she said:
🚨 NEW: The Islamic Centre that Keir Starmer visited on Sunday says Starmer is "completely wrong" and criticised him for his recent comments on Gaza.
They state: "The Islamic Center in Cardiff is fully supportive of our brothers in Palestine". pic.twitter.com/f4feoWRR1P

NEW: South Wales Islamic Centre, where @Keir_Starmer held a photo op on Saturday, have released a statement expressing their dismay at a social media post by the Labour leader, accusing him of "gravely" misrepresenting congregants and the nature of the visit. pic.twitter.com/VVxomHhULP

Now, Labour MPs are openly calling for a ceasefire in Gaza, in defiance of Starmer’s own position.
This would normally trigger a backlash against the rebels from the party leadership – but he seems to be keeping quiet instead.
Politics Live, again, explored the reasons for this:
Starmer stands, now, in a much weaker position than before – entirely because of his own personal biases.
He did not have to say that as party leader he, let alone Labour as a whole, supported Israel’s actions unquestioningly – but he did, because that was his personal, emotional response.
And public opinion deserted him.
Now he’s having to backpedal fast, in what’s looking like an increasingly vain bid to regain the confidence, not only of UK Muslims, but his own backbenchers and Shadow Cabinet.

Starmer long ago lost potential Labour voters when he, Streeting, most of his MPs AND most Labour councillors signed up to American accountable care. They have all acquiesced in the destruction of a national health service and its replacement in England by 42 so called integrated care systems.
God knows why the Labour Party exists or what it stands for. Not decency, not hope, not peace, not equity. Not socialism,
“Fiscal responsibility”? Fittingly from a plagiarist who copied her economic policy from Milton Friedman and George Osborne.

Starmer should be in prison! He is a British Traitor that serves Israel, a foreign, land stealing murderous regime that is committing genocide! He cares more for the bribes he receives from Israel than his service to Britain and the British people!
You know how keef likes to *ahem* “regale” us with yarns about him being the chief prosecutor of England and Wales?
Well imagine that lbc interview as he was in the dock being cross examined by ferrari and was asked THAT question…
And when keef’s answer (I think Israel DOES have that right…its an ongoing situation) was put to him again for clarification…
Would ANY prosector allow keef the chance to recant on his previous answer?
Nah.
It’d be: “No further questions m’lud”.
So keef can have NO complaints, and any chance of expanding on his original answer should rightly be dismissed and denied. HE and he ALONE gave THAT answer. There’s NO ambiguity about it.
For someone who likes to crow about being DPP he really doesn’t know HIS arse from YOUR elbow (let alone his own) when it comes to being put on the spot.
How the clown ever graduated is beyond me.
He may not be blaming Corbyn but would a member like me be ‘corbynated’ for criticising both Starmer and Israel?
