Case quits as civil service head – on health grounds?

Simon Case has announced that he will resign as Cabinet Secretary and head of the Civil Service by the end of the year – on health grounds.

So let’s be clear: it’s not because he’s under pressure to quit because of leaks to the press that embarrass the Labour government.

No, he has been undergoing medical treatment for a “neurological condition” over the last 18 months.

He said in a statement that the decision was “solely to do with health and nothing to do with anything else”. So that’s clear, right?

And it’s nothing to do with any of the other things in which he has been implicated, either.

It’s coincidental that those things will go away too. Right?
