Notre Dame has been restored but what about flammable tower cladding

Notre Dame has been restored but what about flammable tower cladding?

The headline says it all: Notre Dame has been restored but what about flammable tower cladding, here in the UK?

I spotted a comment on the social media that praised the French who have restored Notre Dame in Paris, probably to a better condition than five years ago when it was gutted by fire.

The commenter also pointed out that this happened in less time than the UK’s authorities have taken to remove flammable cladding from tower blocks across the UK after the Grenfell Tower blaze.

And the people in those blocks are still waiting.

The problem isn’t a lack of people available to do the job – it is a lack of will from government to get the work done and get it funded by the idiots who put up the incendiary stuff in the first place.

One would have expected a Labour government to get on with it, after all the fuss its politicians made after 72 people were killed in an entirely-preventable fire in 2017, that was caused because a manufacturer offered highly-inflammable cladding to a (very rich, and therefore lacking any excuse) local council that happened to be a landlord – on the cheap.

This Writer can hear the excuses now: “Don’t you know we’re trying to fill a £22 billion black hole in public finances that was left by the previous government?”

That’s all very well, but somebody should remind Keir Starmer of one very important fact:

The fundamental principle of government is that the citizens are to be protected – at any cost. Lives are more important than money.
