Experts say benefit cuts WILL lead to more deaths

Experts say benefit cuts will lead to more deaths, in a report published by the British Medical Journal.

The article demonstrates that cuts to social security benefits since 2010 have fundamentally harmed the health of the UK’s population.

According to Cambridgeshire Live, it states:

Most notably, just over one million existing recipients had their eligibility re-assessed between 2010 and 2013, with benefits removed if the assessor thought they were fit for work. This led to an increase in 290,000 people with mental health problems, increased antidepressant prescribing, and an estimated 600 suicides.

Implementing yet more cuts will therefore result in more premature deaths. It is vital that the UK Government understands this evidence and takes a different policy approach.

So the government has been warned, and cutting disability benefits now will be tantamount to murder.

It would mean that, knowing people died in the past as a result of benefit cuts, and knowing the same is likely to happen if the cuts take place now, the government is still going ahead.

Rachel Reeves and Liz Kendall will have blood on their hands. They might be able to avoid justice for it (the Tories did) – but we will know.
